It all started at West Virginia University—though neither of us had any idea where life would take us. Chip began his freshman year at WVU in 2010 and quickly found his place in Phi Psi. A year later, Morgan started college and joined Delta Gamma. While we can’t pinpoint exactly when we first met, our paths crossed often, and we became friends—just friends.

After graduation, life took us in different directions. In 2016, Morgan moved to Charlotte, while Chip took a job with Rheem in Connecticut. A few years later, Rheem transferred him to Atlanta—and little did we know, that move would change everything.

Chip’s best friend, Jeff (who just so happens to be the best man), lives in Mooresville—right outside of Charlotte. Chip visited often, but Morgan always seemed to be busy with work or school. Eventually, the timing lined up when Chip came to town for Jeff’s birthday, and we finally met up. From the moment we saw each other, something felt different. A month later, Chip officially asked Morgan to be his girlfriend.

After over a year of long-distance between Charlotte and Atlanta, Chip made the big move to Charlotte in January 2023—and a year later, he made an even bigger one.

For our two-year anniversary, Chip planned a weekend getaway to Asheville. Since he’s not exactly known for planning trips, Morgan immediately suspected something was up. On Saturday morning, we set off for a hike on the Blue Ridge Parkway… only to find it was closed. With no service and no backup plan, Chip somehow managed to find the perfect hike anyway. And somewhere along the trail, he got down on one knee and popped the question. It was the easiest yes Morgan’s ever had to make.

And now, here we are—counting down the days until we say I do!
