Our Story

February 2023 Morgan was scrolling Hinge and noticed a familiar face had liked her profile. The two began chatting and discovered both attended the same local church and had several mutual friends. Phone numbers were exchanged and weeks of texting ensued.

Unfortunately, Mo and Wes dropped the ball and a date never occurred. Although the two went to the same church and had many mutual friends, they never met until one beautiful November evening.

On November 5, 2023, Morgan was invited last minute to join a friend at a post NYC Marathon party at Little Ricky’s on the lower east side. After arriving, grabbing a drink, and starting conversation with a group near the bar, she saw none other than Wesley Dickens walk towards her. Wesley Dickens also happened to be invited to the same party, walked up to the same group as Morgan, and started hugging everyone in the circle…including Morgan. “Great to see you!” he said. Morgan was stunned by such a familiar greeting since the two had never actually interacted. After a few minutes had passed, Wesley came back and said “I realized after I hugged you, we’ve never actually met before, I’m Wesley.”

Wesley kept Morgan company for a bit but the two decided they should probably mingle with other people. However, both of them always seemed to find their way back to each other throughout the night

As the evening drew to a close, Morgan got up to leave and said “Peace! Great to see you!” and began to walk towards the door. Wesley grabbed her gently by the elbow and said “ I’d like to take you dinner next week.” Morgan responded with “Sure! Just text me.”

After a week of chatting, Wes had made plans for the two to make pottery. Although they both admittedly were horrible at creating a pottery structure of any kind, the two enjoyed their first date; and continued it with a cup of coffee and a walk across town. There was a second date, a third, and after a bit, Wesley asked Morgan to be his girlfriend. She didn’t hesitate to say yes.

For a year and a half Wesley pursued Morgan with such intention and love, that she couldn’t help but fall more in love with him.

On March 29th, Morgan thought she was just having drinks with a friend. But that friend hurried her to DUMBO Park where Wesley stood waiting to ask Morgan a question she had been waiting to hear for a long time, “Will you marry me?” The easiest yes she ever gave that led to a surprise arrival from family and friends, and a whole surprise engagement party at Little Ricky's (where they first met) Wesley had planned and organized for months. It was the most perfect weekend where both Wes & Mo were completely overwhelmed by the love so many showed on their behalf. It was all a true answer to prayer.

The future Dickens can’t wait to celebrate their upcoming wedding and marriage with all of you!
