Smith and Morgan met in September of 2021, both in their first year of working at Laurel Hill Elementary School. Smith was one of the new music teachers, and Morgan was an Instructional Assistant for a Special Education class for children in Kindergarten through Second Grade with Autism. The first time Morgan took her class to Smith for music, she accidentally took the kids to the wrong door to Smith’s classroom, where he promptly corrected her and then closed the door in her face. Morgan went home that evening and ranted to her roommates about the encounter she had had with a coworker that day, while Smith went home and told his best friend (now his Best Man) and his dad about how the K-2 Autism Class had a cute new IA and he was going to try to get her number.

He eventually got her number after they had chatted about cocktails after school one day. He had mentioned that he didn’t know there were so many things you could make with tequila, which immediately sparked Morgan’s interest. Their first date was the following week, where Morgan took Smith to pick up his car after his apartment complex had towed it, followed by a romantic dinner of Space Jam shaped Kraft Mac & Cheese and many, many margaritas.

They moved in together in May of 2023 after Morgan finished her Masters Degree, despite him trying to convince her to quit grad school multiple times. They adopted their sweet cat, Zelda, in July of 2023. Morgan now teaches fourth grade at the school where they met.

After MONTHS of Morgan relentlessly bugging him about it, Smith FINALLY proposed on New Years Eve! They left dating in 2023 and entered 2024 engaged! Now they are both balancing the busy life of being full time teachers while planning a wedding!
