Sundance is a Provo favorite. They are always hosting fun summer activities. You can hike and wander through the mountain at your comfortability level with restaurants and lodging at the base. Up Sundance Canyon there is also a road that will take you through beautiful mountain scenery if you prefer to cover more ground and drive.

A great summer activity local to Provo! They have a bus shuttle service and provide tubes and life vests. The River is known to have some rough areas and this is not a mid-west river so PLEASE wear you life vest.

Park City is about an hour drive from Provo, UT and makes a great day trip. With higher elevation it will be slightly cooler in the summer months. There are some good restaurants, bars, and shopping on the main strip.

Definitely recommend walking shoes as you will be in a mountain town .

Moab is about a 3 hour drive from Provo, UT.

Timed entry tickets are required in addition to your park pass OR entrance fee from 7 am to 4 pm daily April 1 through July 6 and August 28 through October 31, 2025. You may enter the park before 7 am or after 4 pm, and from July 7 through August 27, 2025, without a timed entry ticket.

Salt Lake City has the "city feel" if that is what you prefer. They have some of our favorite places to eat and drink.
