If you’re visiting Dallas or Rockwall for the weekend, here are some of Morgen and David’s favorite spots to check out!
- Hudson House: Morgen recommends the fish tacos and lemon drop martini.
- DL Mack’s: Return of the Mack pizza is a fave of Morgen and David.
- Son of a Butcher: fun slider joint in the heart of Lower Greenville. (David says you HAVE to get The Popper slider!)
- Communion Coffee (Richardson): worth the drive north if you’re staying in the city; Morgen swears by their seasonal menu!
- Ascension (Design District): their mocha is to die for!
- White Rhino (St. Thomas): all the cozy vibes! Try the Whole Latte Love (lavender honey latte).
- La La Land (any location): a Dallas staple - if you’re hungry, get the Truffle Burrata Avocado Toast!
- Milo Butterfingers: a classic pool dive near SMU frequented by Morgen, David & friends.
- Revelers Hall: cute craft cocktail spot in Bishop Arts District with stellar live jazz in house each night.
- Truck Yard: best bar in Lower Greenville for groups - outdoors with fire pits, heaters, and food trucks!
- HG Sply Co: lively rooftop bar in Lower Greenville with great views of the skyline.
- White Rock Lake
- Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Garden
- Oak Point Park & Nature Preserve
- Cedar Hill State Park
- Fort Worth Stockyards: it’s worth the 45 min drive from Dallas to see Cowtown & witness the historic cattle drive! Shops and restaurants are bustling here; if you’re looking for nightlife, the Stockyards comes to life in the evening with lights, live music, and some of our favorite bars.
- Cowboys Red River Dance Hall: the best place in town to go two-stepping and dancing! Usually they offer free two-step lessons on Thursdays and Fridays from 7-8 pm for all skill levels.
- Hyena’s Comedy Club: one of the best comedy spots in DFW. Asif Ali is performing Friday, 2/14 — Morgen got to meet him after a show at Hyena’s once and thinks he is hilarious!
- Zanata: the favorite pizza joint of the Stark family. Don’t go without trying the Blue Crab Dip as an appetizer!
- Wells Cattle Co: farm-to-table, family-owned burger joint that uses beef from their local cattle ranch to make their burgers. Morgen loves the burger called the “Hot Ranch Hand” — and not just because she’s marrying one!
- The Downing Bottles & Bites: calling all wine lovers! Best wine selection in town, and have great pairings with their bites and entrees. Go just for a tasting, or for lunch/dinner.
- Sideways: delicious barbecue restaurant in the marina that turns into a good-timin’ live music hotspot at night!
- Siren Rock Brewing Co: super cute, family-friendly brewery with a variety of Rockwall favorites. We recommend the Gritty Matador Mexican lager, or the Prima Diva blonde ale.
- Flying Saucer: fun place to grab a bite and a brew to watch the sunset over the lake.
- Squabble Creek Trail
- Terry Park
- Rowlett Nature Trail
- Boutiques: visit downtown to walk around the square and checkout the adorable clothing & home good stores! Definitely check out Groovy’s and the Kitschy Cupboard.
- Shenanigans: family entertainment center with bowling, arcade games, axe throwing, escape rooms, laser tag, and food + drinks.
- Eldorado Fine Cigars: cozy, local cigar store and lounge in an old historic home built in 1903.
