Flying

There are a few different ways to travel to Tuscany, flying is probably the most convenient. You will still need a car to get around when you get there as it's very remote.

The two nearest airports to Tuscany is:

Florence (1 hour 10 mins to Radicondoli)

Pisa ( 1 hour 44 mins to Radicondoli )

Pisa seems to have cheaper and more regular flights, but this depends where you are coming from. For example, Bristol to Pisa seems to operate with EasyJet and the prices are good.

Please be aware the monday after the wedding is a bank holiday so there are limited flights for the Sunday 25th and Monday 26th.

Flights are now showing on sites such as Skyscanner and EasyJet and Ryanair. We advise book when you can as the prices seem to be reasonable at the moment!

Driving

If you are up for an adventure and would like to convoy up with Me, Moss and a few others then please do join us!

A few of us will be making the drive up in campers or staying at places along the way. Me and Moss will be leaving the UK in our campervan on the 18th of August via the Euro Tunnel from Folkestone to Calais, it only takes around 35mins! We will then travel for a few days and plan to arrive in Radicondoli for the 21st of August. Let me know whether this is something you might like to do and we can discuss!

On the wedding day only, if guests have a campervan with them, they are allowed to stay on site for that night, although there will not be any electric hook ups.

Train

And lastly there is the option of trains! It's likely you will still need a car to get around once you get to Pisa or Florence.

The best route (from what I've researched) is taking a Eurostar train from London to Turin then from Turin you can either continue by train to Pisa or Florence or even hire a car and drive down along the riviera.

I have attached a website with useful information if you are thinking about taking the train. CLICK HERE

Car hire

A car is definitely needed around the area of Tuscany if you want to explore this beautiful area. We easily hired a car from Pisa Airport, its a small walk or free bus ride to get to the rent a car station.

We advise renting the car before you arrive so its quick and easy. Please avoid the company 'Drivila' as we had a very bad experience with them resulting in us buying a new hire car with Europcar. Try to get a car thats over 1 litre as some of them are little cars and hardly get you up a hill.

Please bear in mind, you need to bring a credit card in your name and a driving licence to match. If there is someone else with you, its good to have a credit card and licence in their name too. Some rentals won't let you use a credit card under your partners name if you are the main driver.

Driving in Tuscany is really beautiful and once you get used to driving on the other side of the road it is a great way to explore as they are mainly single track roads. Italians can be a little reckless with their driving and will often try to overtake so just let them!

Please bear in mind the speed limit signs and speed cameras, they are orange or grey boxes on the sides of the road. (images below).

If you download the app 'Waze', it will navigate you and tell you where the speed cameras are. If you are using your phone as sat nav, take a cable so you can charge and connect your phone as not all the cars have a bluetooth feature.
