This is my favorite story to tell. When Ethan and I were just young adolescents, we were both very big into 4-H. There was a Beef, Sheep, and Swine conference in a very rural- remote lodge in Tustin Mi called Kettunen Center, which has now since closed. I was a freshman in high school, making Ethan a junior. I had just had my braces removed about a month before this conference so I was feeling VERY confident in myself. The conference leader had us all in a big room and asked for us to go around introducing ourselves to the other 4-Hers from other counties. A very common thing at a 4-H event. Being that I was high school age and how minimal the male presence was at this conference, Ethan and his buddy had many female eyes watching them. When the opportunity presented itself for me to go over and say hi, I had zero hesitation. After that moment, we were inseparable the whole weekend. Whether he wanted to be or not. At the time we were more realistic about long distance since I was living in Elk Rapids and he lived in Dexter. The drive was just too far for a 14 and 16 year old. We remained friends for a few years following that, staying in touch every now and then. Fast forward to Faster Horses 2018. I had attended with my best friend and Maid of Honor Kaylee. Ethan found out I was going to be there and mentioned that he had brought his smoker and was smoking meat for his campsite. I jokingly told him that we wanted some at our site. This man walked 2 miles to bring me fresh pulled pork and homemade BBQ sauce. A true way to a womans heart. From the moment I saw him walk onto our site, I knew it was forever this time. I believe my words were, So we are doing this right? and he said, I guess we are. The rest is history. We now own a beautiful home that we remodeled together. We have amazing dogs and a couple cats that we adore, along with our chickens. We have built a beautiful life together and we cant wait to share our day with all of you.
