Q + A
Are there direct flights to Vancouver from the east coast?
There are direct flights from both Toronto and New York that run regularly. Because of the 3-hour time difference, flights will typically run to Vancouver in the afternoon, and from Vancouver in either the morning or overnight. The flight is ~4-6 hours depending on location.
Does Canada require proof of vaccination to enter from the United States?
As of early May, proof of full vaccination is required for entry into Canada for all individuals over the age of 12. Pre-travel testing is no longer required. Please check Canada's government travel website (travel.gc.ca/travel-covid) for updated information.
How long should we plan to spend in Vancouver?
Welcome drinks will take place on Friday, August 26th and the ceremony & reception are on the evening of Saturday, August 27th. But we encourage everyone to spend a few extra days if they're able, check out the "Things to Do" section for some ideas of how to best spend your time in Vancouver!
Do we need to rent a car?
We wouldn't recommend it unless you're staying for a longer period of time. All parts of Vancouver (including the airport) are easily accessible by both Uber and the Canada Line (metro), and downtown is walkable. There's also a water taxi between Vancouver and North Vancouver.
What is the weather like in Vancouver in late August?
Vancouver has warm, mostly dry summers and temperatures should be 15-20C / 60-70F. It can get cool at night, so bring a sweater just in case!
Where should we stay?
We've linked to two recommended hotels on the "Travel" tab, The Opus and the Fairmont Pacific Rim. If you'd prefer to find another hotel, we'd suggest staying in downtown Vancouver or North Vancouver.
