An expansive and beautiful park full of trails, dramatic vistas and camp sites, RMNP is definitely worth a visit if you're planning a longer stay in Colorado. A day's park pass is required to enter the park. Dogs are allowed and welcome.

This famous hotel was the film location for Stanley Kubrick's "The Shining". If you're feeling brave, you can stay at one of their allegedly haunted rooms, but it's also a fun place to get a tour and a cocktail at their bar.

If you want to do something more active beyond hiking the nearby trails, you can spend 90 minutes at this park crossing rope bridges, aerial tightropes and swinging logsteps.

Estes Park has a charming downtown area with fun shops, great restaurants and a river walkway.
