Natalie Roenker, a theater nerd. Could probably recite Shakespeare by heart. Dancer and circus performer. Never touched a video game in her life. Severe lack of computer skills.

Doesn’t read like a perfectly matched couple, right?

They would never even have met if one of Dylan’s friends didn’t drag him to a night of swing dancing when he said he was ready to start meeting people again. Dancing is really the last thing Dylan wanted to do, but he was told there were plenty of young women there with no dance partners, so it would be the perfect place to meet someone. And when Natalie entered the room, Dylan knew she was the girl he wanted to ask for a dance. So when the instructor of the dance class told them to rotate partners and practice the moves they had learned, Dylan was waiting for his turn with Natalie so he could introduce himself. And when his turn to dance with this woman came up…the instructor said it was time to stop.

Fate, right?

So now Dylan had to go and introduce himself on his own, which should be recognized as taking a lot more courage. And when he did and asked for a dance, Natalie accepted. And it took about 5 minutes for Dylan to realize he was out of his league (he didn’t know yet that Natalie studied dance in college). But when the song ended, Dylan followed Natalie to get a drink and started to ask her about herself. Before they knew it, they had left the dancing behind and ended up standing at a table in the back of the room talking all night.

And soon they were on their way.

After a couple of dates, Dylan and Natalie officially started their relationship. Soon they discovered that all the things that made them different gave them great opportunities to share their lives with one another and introduce each other to new things. They came from very different backgrounds, and that turned out to be a gift and really kept the relationship interesting for both of them.

Though, try as he might, Dylan can’t seem to teach Natalie how to play video games. And Natalie can’t get Dylan to agree that soup, by itself, is a whole meal.

They’ve had lots of adventures together, from Natalie’s first trip to Disney World to Dylan seeing Cirque du Soleil shows and musicals for the first time. And in 2020, they started their biggest adventure together: sharing an apartment. But since they managed to live there without killing each other for almost a whole year, Dylan decided he could probably get behind sharing his life with Natalie.

In September of 2021, at the very same castle where the wedding will be held, Dylan and Natalie were engaged. And hopefully they will continue to avoid killing each other as they finish planning the wedding.
