It was on Saturday, August 24, 2024, when God's divine plan quietly began to unfold. Though neither of us felt particularly eager to attend the Broward Singles Ministry event at St. Bonaventure Catholic Church in Davie, FL, the Holy Spirit had already set the stage for something extraordinary.
That evening, Roberto noticed Natalie and felt an undeniable pull to speak with her. When we finally did, what started with laughter and a touch of nervousness soon blossomed into a joyful connection we both felt. We spent the rest of the evening getting to know one another. By the end of the night, Roberto asked Natalie if she’d like to get a cup of coffee sometime—and so, the journey began.
Our first date was on September 7, 2024, at Macondo Coffee Roasters in Kendall, FL. What we thought might be a quick coffee turned into a three-hour conversation that passed like sand through our fingers. From there, the dates began to unfold with joy: delicious meals, shared desserts, long walks, spontaneous dancing in random parking lots—and moments of grace-filled prayer, including Holy Hour in front of the Blessed Sacrament.
During his nightly devotional prayer time, Roberto experienced a profound revelation in his heart: Natalie would be his wife. He didn’t tell her then—it felt too soon, and he himself was still processing it—but the seed was planted with peace.
Our fourth date took place on September 20, 2024. After dinner at Ifra’s Indian Restaurant—where we bonded over our shared love of Indian food—Natalie invited Roberto to attend the Eucharistic Cenacle hosted by the Servants of the Pierced Hearts of Jesus and Mary, a religious community very dear to her heart, where she actively serves as an apostle. That same night, at 11:30 p.m., he asked Natalie to be his girlfriend—and she said “yes!”
From then on, our love grew, gently and organically, always guided by the grace and clarity of the Holy Trinity. We made the cenacle a cornerstone of our relationship. Every Friday became our sacred routine: dinner, Holy Mass, and Adoration—our sacred "date night.”
As weeks turned into months, our bond deepened through shared laughter, prayer, music, dancing, singing, meaningful conversation and shared dreams. Like a mustard seed, our love—small and humble at first—grew into something strong, bountiful, beautiful, and deeply rooted in faith.
In November, the idea of engagement began to bloom during a peaceful walk under the oak-lined path of Curtiss Parkway. By December, Roberto had a custom engagement ring made, with plans to propose on January 20, 2025, during a romantic evening at the historic Curtiss Mansion.
But once again, the Holy Spirit had other plans….
On January 13, 2025—just one week before the planned proposal—Roberto went to pray at the Adoration Chapel of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Doral. It was a chapel Natalie had always considered the most beautiful in Miami. Roberto hadn’t planned to see Natalie that evening, but when he told her where he was, she felt strongly called to join him.
Later that night, as they sat together quietly in the dim chapel, Roberto felt the Holy Spirit prompting him to propose then and there. He quickly looked at Jesus in the monstrance and nervously whispered, “Jesus, if I’m meant to ask Natalie tonight, please have her stand up and kneel before You.” Within seconds, Natalie rose, walked to the front, and knelt before the Blessed Sacrament. Roberto knew, without a doubt, it was God's perfect timing.
Without a second thought for plans, hair, or wardrobe, Roberto placed his phone—leaning on a vase of flowers in front of the portrait of Our Lady of Guadalupe, making it appear as though she was recording the moment. He walked up and knelt before Jesus, waiting for the right moment to call Natalie over.
As she stood up, Roberto caught her eye and called her to join him in front of Jesus. There, in the presence of our Lord, our King, our God, Roberto asked:
“Natalie, in front of Jesus, will you marry me and make me the happiest man?”
With a glowing smile and a heart full of joy and shock, Natalie said:
“Yes, yes, yes!”
What Roberto didn’t know at the time was that Natalie had always prayed—without ever telling anyone—that her dream was that one day she be proposed to inside an adoration chapel, in the presence of Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament. God, in His providence, heard that prayer and brought it to fulfillment in the most personal and holy way.
All of our days were lovingly written by God before a single one came to be, just as the Psalmist proclaims:
“Your eyes saw my unformed substance; in Your book were written, every one of them, the days that were formed for me, when as yet there was none of them.”
— Psalm 139:16
Our story is part of that sacred plan—unfolding moment by moment, revealed to us through grace and in God’s perfect time.
For now, we walk together in faith and love, hand in hand, toward the altar—grateful for the gift of each other, and with Christ forever at the center of it all.
