Q + A

How do we get to the venue?

The address of the Indiana Historical Society is 450 W Ohio St, Indianapolis, IN 46202. You can drive to the venue or walk from one of the downtown hotels. Indianapolis also has Uber/Lyft services. Please enter the venue through the doors closest to the parking lot rather than through the doors on Ohio Street.

What time should we arrive at the ceremony?

The ceremony begins at 4:30 pm, so please arrive at the venue 10-15 minutes early.

What is the parking situation?

There is a large, free parking lot at the Indiana Historical Society. All guests can park in this lot.

Is the venue wheelchair accessible?

Yes. There is a ramp leading to the entrance, and there are elevators throughout the venue.

Is the wedding indoors or outdoors?

The ceremony and reception will take place in Eli Lilly Hall, which is indoors. The cocktail hour will be outside on a patio near the Indianapolis Canal.

Can I bring a plus one?

Please only RSVP for yourself and those listed on your invitation.

What should we wear?

The dress code for the wedding is cocktail/semi-formal. The bridesmaids will be wearing dresses in various shades of blue, and the groomsmen will be in grey suits with a navy blue tie. Nate will be wearing a navy blue suit with a grey vest, and Kaitlyn will be wearing a white dress (obvs).

Are children invited?

Aside from our ring bearers/flower boys (our nephews), the wedding is adults-only.

Should we bring our gift to the wedding or mail it ahead of time?

This is entirely up to you. There will be a gift table at the wedding with a lockbox for cards, but shipped gifts are perfectly fine as well. Thank you in advance!

Can we take photos during the ceremony/post on social media?

We kindly request that all guests put away electronic devices during our ceremony. Our photographer will take photos throughout the ceremony that will be shared on our wedding website after the event. As you take photos during the cocktail hour and reception, please upload them to our shared photo website that will be made available through a QR code at the wedding. We are excited to see the memories you all capture!

Where should I report my dietary restrictions?

Please note any dietary restrictions in your RSVP, and our caterer will try to be as accommodating as possible.

What food will be served during cocktail hour?

In addition to an open bar, mini crab cakes, bourbon glazed pork bites, and various cheeses and crackers will be available during cocktail hour.

What food will be served at the reception?

There are three meal choices: red wine-braised short ribs with mashed potatoes, grilled lemon chicken with mashed potatoes, or a stack of eggplant, zucchini, and peppers served on top of a cheesy polenta. Each entrée includes roasted bistro vegetables and is gluten free. The vegetable stack is our vegetarian option. Please select your meal when you RSVP.

Will there be an open bar?

Yes! There will be an open bar on the patio during cocktail hour, and the bar will reopen after dinner. During the reception, the bar will be in the Indiana Historical Society's Cole Porter Room, which is a replica of a 1940's cabaret bar.

What time does the reception end?

The sendoff for the bride and groom will take place at 10:15 pm, and the reception will end at 10:30 pm.
