The Money Dance (Tulugan) Voluntary
Symbolic Meaning:
Represents blessings of wealth, support, and financial prosperity for the couple's new life together.
Embodies the community's collective wish for the couple's success and happiness in their marriage.
How It Works:
After their first dance as husband and wife, the bride and groom take center stage.
Guests line up to participate, pinning money onto the couple's clothing or placing money into a basket or pouch.
The couple dances with each guest, symbolizing gratitude and connection (Optional)
The collected money often contributes to the couple's honeymoon or as a small nest egg for starting their life together.
Cultural Context:
It reflects the Filipino spirit of bayanihan (community support) and highlights the involvement of family and friends in ensuring the couple’s well-being.
It's a fun and festive way to keep traditions alive while incorporating modern celebrations.
The dance isn't only a financial gesture—it's a moment filled with laughter, blessings, and memories shared by all in attendance.
