An Irish wedding is very different! Strap yourself in for a huge day of fun!
First up, a HUMONGOUS THANK YOU! If you are on our website, this likely means you're coming to celebrate with us and we are OVER THE MOON you can join us!
For those coming to our wedding from Australia, Canada, the US or the UK, here's all the information you need!
If you have any questions, don't hesitate to reach out to Mark, Niamh or our families.
FLIGHTS FROM AUSTRALIA
If you are ready to book your flights, we recommend using skyscanner for some great deals! Over the years, we have flown to and from Australia quite a lot and would highly recommend the following airlines; Etihad ~ Qatar Airways ~ Emirates.
IRISH AIRPORTS
Ireland has a few airports you can fly into. If you are coming from Australia or the US, you will arrive at Dublin Airport. For those coming from the UK or Jersey, you will likely fly into Belfast. Belfast has two airports and it doesn't matter which one you use. There's also a small airport in Derry that may suit your schedule.
TRANSPORTATION
I would recommend hiring a car rather than relying on public transportation. The area is quite rural and you will need a car if you are planning to enjoy the area in the days surrounding the wedding. Here is a link to a great article on some rental companies available.
ACCOMMODATION {UPDATED MAY 2024}
Our wedding venue is exclusively ours for the wedding. There are stunning rooms available in the country house and we highly recommend staying there on the wedding day/night. You can wake up refreshed and explore the grounds before enjoying a beautiful breakfast. We have secured a great deal on the rooms. Here is a list of the rooms with some sample photos, details and costs. If you would like to secure a room, please email us on aussiegodwins@gmail.com or whatsapp (+61473305931) the room number and a contact number. Closer to the wedding date, the Beech Hill Wedding Team will call you to take payment. This is the only way to book a room currently. (Apologies for the truncated process.)
Many are planning to explore the local area, as well as various parts of Ireland in the days before and after our wedding. There are all sorts of accommodation types available to you.
Check out Airbnb for anything from cosy Irish cottages to traditional BnBs to large family homes. If you would like a countryside remote stay I'd recommend using Airbnb.
On the other hand, if you would prefer a city vibe, the wedding venue is close to the city of Derry. Click here for lots of hotels to choose from. We haven't stayed at any of the hotels before so apologies we cannot personally recommend any. Search 'Inishowen Hotels' on Google for other options.
To get more of an understanding of the area, Niamh's parents home is in Greencastle where she grew up. This is approx 40 minutes from the wedding venue. It's a small fishing village in the peninsula of Inishowen. I'd highly recommend staying somewhere in Inishowen.
We will update our website with 'Things To Do' as we get closer to the date.
CURRENCY TIP!
As you know, Niamh is from Ireland. In Ireland, the euro is used, however living very close to Northern Ireland, which is part of the UK, the currency is pound sterling. Whilst the wedding venue is only a short drive from the village Niamh grew up in, it's actually in Northern Ireland and the currency is pound sterling. Signing up to Revolut is a great idea if you don't want to worry about currencies! All you have to do is link your Revolut card with a current bank account and use the app to transfer money across. WEDDING DAY NANNY
Are you taking your kids to Ireland but they are not attending the wedding? If you need a nanny to look after your children while you party the day away at the wedding, please let us know before June 30.
Do you have any questions or would you like to know more about the day? Please click on the tab FAQ for more details!
