How It All Began

Although neither of us had realized it, Logan and I met my first day at the American University of the Caribbean in Sint Maarten. He was in his second semester and was serving as an Orientation Advisor. I, on the other hand, didn't want to be there. I was in the grocery store with my mom looking at cereal, when she looked down at the price tag and said "$20?!?!", and Logan was standing there in the isle and explained that the US dollar prices were written at the bottom. I remember thinking he was cute and tall.

Months later, Logan was the prospective head TA for Anatomy Lab and our Molecular & Cellular Biology Tutor. We became friends and would study together for our exams. The following semester, I was a prospect head TA for anatomy lab and Logan was a head TA. We spent a ton of time in the lab teaching, dissecting and using the bone saw. I knew he was a gentleman when he would let me use the saw and just assist.

Logan and I spent all of our time together, studying, eating, teaching, and going to some of our favorite bars/clubs with our friends (shoutout Red Piano, Lotus & Soggy Dollar) and everyone knew we were inseparable. And on June 22nd, 2019 Logan took me to the Yacht Club for lunch just as any other day and asked me to be his girlfriend.

I was finishing my last semester on the Island and Logan was visiting me when we were sent home back to the US from the Island. There were no flights to Florida and so I told Logan to come back to CT with me. We studied for our board exam together, and built him a room in the basement of my house.

We started our clinical rotations in the Bronx this past fall. On January 23, 2021, Logan and I took a trip home to CT as we often do. He told me he made reservations for dinner and drinks and took me to Waters Edge Resort in Westbrook, CT. After a drink and some apps, we left for our "dinner reservations". But, when we walked outside, Logan said he had a letter he wanted to read me. He read me a letter as he walked me down a path towards a Gazebo he had decorated with some of my closest friends and family. When he finished his letter, he proposed! Afterwards, he and my mom surprised me with an intimate engagement party. It was the perfect day to get engaged to the perfect man!

Before we ever dated, Logan had told my roommate Mae that, "I would marry that girl if I ever got the chance". I guess he's getting that chance!
