It was the third Friday in October when a California boy and a Canadian girl happened to wander into the same bar. They had both been at the basketball game earlier that night, watching their favourite team, the Golden State Warriors. They were wearing disguises - she had black hair, and he had a moustache, but in spite of all this trickery, they saw something special in one-another immediately.

They started texting, casually at first, but soon they were talking on the phone every single night. It felt only natural that they make a plan to see one-another in person, so he found himself on a flight to Vancouver, and a mere few weeks later, she found herself back in California.

They rang in their first New Year together (and his birthday). They both agreed - this next year might just be the best one yet.

Months passed, and with them came more phone calls, and of course, more back and forth visits. Finally, they decided it was time for their first big trip. Off to Mexico they went!

And a few months later, a trip to China to meet his family! (By now, both had shed their disguises. They were back to themselves, but a little bit improved for having known each-other).

Things were going well, but she felt uneasy. She had something on her mind, and was nervous to share with him. "Listen", she said one day. "I've been wanting to make a bit of a career pivot. Okay, a BIG pivot. It would require me to stay in Vancouver for 5 more years. What do you think?" In his effortless - nothing is a problem if we tackle it together - way, he said "Well, I guess we're going to need to find a place to live in Vancouver." And thus, their domestic lives began.

Turns out, he got two roommates for the price of one. In addition to adopting a new postal code, he officially became dog dad to Ollie.

With their new lives, came lots of new adventures (like this one).

And lots of ordinary (but just as special) moments along the way.

And then, there was that really big trip to Paris...

...which ended with a very big surprise!

Since then, it's been happily ever after.

They've been keeping busy with renovating their apartment, planning a wedding, and of course making lots of yummy meals (more so him than her, admittedly).

But no matter how crazy things, get, they make sure to routinely have a grand ole time together.
