Things to Do Around Temecula

Whether you’re arriving early or making a long weekend out of it, there’s plenty to explore in and around Temecula especially on a weekday when wine country is a little quieter.

Explore Temecula Wine Country

Temecula Valley is home to dozens of wineries, many offering tastings, vineyard views, and relaxed weekday experiences. Monday tastings tend to be less crowded and more intimate. A few favorites:

Wilson Creek Winery – famous for almond champagne

Ponte Winery – great wine, great lunch

Leoness Cellars – stunning views and reds

Europa Village – wine tasting with a European flair

(Some wineries require reservations, even on weekdays—worth checking ahead.)

Old Town Temecula

A charming historic district with shops, wine bars, restaurants, and live music:

Antique stores & local boutiques

Casual wine tasting rooms

Easy lunches and laid-back dinners

Great for a relaxed afternoon or post-travel stroll.

Spa, Golf & Relaxation

If your version of wine country includes doing absolutely nothing, Temecula delivers:

Pechanga Resort Casino & Spa – full-service spa, golf, dining, and entertainment

Several nearby championship golf courses for those looking to tee it up

Day Trips (All Within ~1–1.5 Hours)

If you’re feeling adventurous:

Laguna Beach – coastal views, art galleries, and great food

Joshua Tree National Park – iconic desert landscapes and hiking

Palm Springs – mid-century design, pools, and mountain views

San Diego Event Note

If you’re planning to fly into San Diego the weekend before June 22, keep in mind there’s a major NASCAR street race weekend happening June 19–21, 2026 at Naval Base Coronado. This weekend will host a full slate of races including the NASCAR Cup Series and associated events, and it’s expected to draw big crowds and busy roads in parts of San Diego that weekend.

This could mean:

Edge-of-town traffic increases near Coronado and areas leading to downtown

Higher demand for accommodations around San Diego over that specific weekend

Road closures and event crowds on race days

That said, if you’re a fan of motorsports or want to make a Monday trip into a mini San Diego adventure, it’s a unique experience worth checking out! (Tickets and details are available through the event’s official channels.)

Food & Drink

Temecula has no shortage of great spots for casual bites or celebratory meals especially nice on weekdays when reservations are easier to snag. Many wineries also offer excellent on-site dining.
