Q + A

What do you mean “We’re Eloping?”

This is not a traditional wedding. We are intentionally keeping the guest list small. We want to celebrate our special day with just immediate family and close friends.

Where will the wedding be?

The ceremony will be at Cathedral Beach, which is located in Yosemite Valley, from 1PM – 3PM. The reception will be at Rush Creek Lodge, from 7PM – 10PM.

PLEASE NOTE: Although we have a permit for Cathedral Beach from 1PM to 3PM, it does not mean the area is closed off (i.e. there may be hikers in the area).

Is there an entrance fee to get into Yosemite National Park?

Yes. Entrance fees into the park are not waived for either ceremony participants or guests.

Read more about entrance fees: https://www.nps.gov/yose/planyourvisit/fees.htm

PLEASE NOTE: If you plan on staying longer and want to visit the park, a reservation will be required on October 5th and October 6th. To make reservations in advance, please see below:

Is there parking by Cathedral Beach?

Yes, there is limited parking. It is strongly encouraged that people carpool to the ceremony site.

Will there be seating during the ceremony?

No, chairs are not allowed in the ceremony site. Consideration is given to those with special needs.

What if it rains?

Rain or shine, we’re getting married!

Can I take pictures?

Our officiant, Charlie, will announce when pictures can be taken. So, there will be a moment for all to get pictures on their phones. However, we have hired an amazing photographer to capture our ceremony, so we kindly ask that all phones, cameras, and tablets remain out of site and silenced until after the ceremony. Enjoy the moment and we will share the pictures after the celebration.

How far is Rush Creek Lodge from Cathedral Beach?

45 minutes.

What is the dress code for the ceremony and reception?

Semi-formal

Example:

-Men should wear dress pants, a dress shirt, and a tie. A suit or a blazer can also be worn.

-Women should wear a cocktail dress, a dressy blouse paired with a skirt or dress pants, or a dressy jumpsuit).

The weather in Yosemite National Park in October can vary, but generally, it marks the transition from warmer months to cooler temperatures.

-Temperature: Daytime temperatures can range from mild to cool, with average highs ranging from around 60 to 70 degrees Fahrenheit. However, temperatures can drop significantly in the evenings, reaching into the 30s or 40s Fahrenheit.

What do we do after the ceremony?

Guests can feel free to explore other areas of the park (i.e. Tunnel View, El Capitan Meadow, Glacier Point, Lower Yosemite Falls, Bridal Veil Falls, etc.) or head back to their lodge to relax before the reception.
