Nina's Story:One evening, I was planning to spend time with friends to celebrate my 28th birthday. The date was October 7th, falling on the same weekend as Oktoberfest. We went out, had a great time, and eventually ended up back at my friend's apartment. Despite the late hour, the night still felt young, but I was ready for bed. I decided to push through my fatigue and enjoy a little more time with everyone.We headed to King G, a place I'd never been before. When we arrived, I ran into an old college friend, Rashard, who introduced me to Jack. What started as a brief five-minute conversation quickly turned into something neither of us could have predicted. I thought that would be the end of it for the night, but the next morning, I woke up to a text from my friends saying that Rashard had reached out to ask for my number for Jack. By that time, I’d already received a friend request and a direct message from Jack, asking the same thing.He was persistent, and his determination made it easy for me to say yes when he asked me out on a date. Our first date was at Gram &amp; Dun. And to wrap up this story, I'll share something I wrote in my iPhone notes that night—before I even knew where things were headed: "I will marry this man."Jack's Story:The night I met Nina started out like any other fall weekend in Kansas City. A typical weekend in the life of 29-year-old Jack Renfro typically included some form of adventure, ending in a night out on the town. Although this particular Saturday, I wasn't feeling the best. I was normally an eager person, but today just didn't feel like it was the right night for activities. A fast-food run paired with a Netflix documentary felt like it was more up my alley.Little did I know, I was going to be out on the town whether I liked it or not. My best friend Rashard showed up to my apartment unannounced and informed me that we were going to "hit the city up." To make matters worse, my other friend Andres was already in route to my apartment, making the claim that "the city had to see us tonight."After being forcefully dragged to the bar against my will, we decided to order up a round of drinks. In true Rashard fashion, before we could get our drinks, he was gone. Andres and I were left to grab the drinks while Rashard was off chatting with some old friends. We joined him and were introduced to a group of people that Rashard knew from JCCC. Mentally exhausted, I engaged in a sidebar conversation with a girl with a dog, and a new job based in Wisconsin. Little did I know, I would soon learn that this would be my wife.It wasn't long after I went home that night, that I knew I needed more time with this girl. Everything after that has been an absolute blur. From the first date, to trips all over the country, to getting down on one knee in Central Park, to an elopement in Union Station followed by a private dinner at Eddie V's, to moving in together, and finally to planning our wedding ceremony in Florence, Italy, I have enjoyed every step of our journey together. It hasn't even been two years, and I feel like I've known her my whole life. We are both thrilled to share an unforgettable experience across the world with our closest family and friends.

Villa Information

The villa will host all of the festivities on our big day. Immediate family will be invited to stay with us on site for the entire weekend, and the rest of our guests will have the option to stay in a hotel very close, with a trolley service included! The villa is comprised of 6 bedrooms on the first floor and many large and accommodating common spaces on the main floor. The entire villa has been furnished with the utmost care with a very strong focus on art and design. The furniture was designed in the 70s by&nbsp;Poltronova&nbsp;and is in harmony with the many paintings and sculptures of&nbsp;Italian&nbsp;Pop Art&nbsp;from the 60s. You will find works by artists such as&nbsp;Ettore Sottsass, Valerio Adami,&nbsp;Mario Ceroli&nbsp;and the whole Pistoia School with&nbsp;Roberto Barni,&nbsp;Umberto Buscioni&nbsp;and&nbsp;Gianni Ruffi. Guests are sure to appreciate the expressive intertwining and the fusion of styles that make this villa truly special.

Villa Origins

The name&nbsp;Villa Il Cerretino&nbsp;comes from the word “cerri”, the local dialect name for the type of oak tree found in the woods surrounding the villa. Because of its strategic and dominant position on the outskirts of Florence, over the centuries the villa has changed hands many times and undergone incredible architectural transformations that can be seen in the rooms and atmosphere of the house. The military architecture of the late fifteenth century is mixed with elements of farm style buildings as well as the noble villa style typical of the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries. In the fifteenth century the complex belonged to the Bini family, of which various coats of arms remain on the tower and in the internal courtyard. It then was sold to the&nbsp;Medici&nbsp;to whom the reputation of the villa was forever linked when&nbsp;Grand Duke Francesco I&nbsp;made it the residence of&nbsp;Bianca Cappello, the Venetian noblewoman who was his mistress and eventually his second wife. During the sixteenth century the Villa was renovated and typical elements of the period were added such as the large kneeling windows on the eastern and rear sides and a new upper lawn outside the main floor of the villa.In the eighteenth century the villa was sold to the Moldetti family. They were responsible for the adaptation works to the&nbsp;Chapel, the eastern tower and the central Belvedere of the lower garden. The ceiling of the small chapel, dedicated to San Francesco di Paola, was also decorated internally by a Florentine artist. In the following century the Villa passed to the Contini Bonacossi family and was used as a farm. In fact, the 20 hectares of land surrounding the villa were used to produced wine (we are in what is now designated as the&nbsp;Carmignano DOCG wine region), and Tuscan extra virgin olive oil.&nbsp;At the end of the 1960s, the Villa was purchased and restored by the current owners and after initially being used as their own private residence was then transformed into an exclusive location for events and holiday stays.

As the bride’s sister, it only felt right to put Hayley to work as my Maid of Honor (because isn’t that what sisters are for?). All jokes aside, I truly couldn’t imagine anyone else by my side. I’ve dreamed of this moment since we were kids, and having Hayley as my sister has always felt more like having a built-in best friend. I’m beyond grateful for her—not only because she’s shaped me as a sister, a friend, and now as I step into this new chapter as a wife—but because she’s the person I’ve always looked up to. I can’t wait to have her standing next to me on the most important day of my life.

You might say she’s my mom, but to me, she’s also my best friend. When I thought about who I wanted as a bridesmaid, she was the very first person who came to mind. There’s truly no one who has been there for me through every part of my life—offering advice when I needed it, a little “redirection” when I clearly needed it, and also giving me the space to figure things out on my own. I couldn’t imagine her doing all the behind-the-scenes work without being front and center for such an important moment. It would be a shame if she wasn’t standing right there beside me when I say “Yes” to Jack.

Annie and I met during our freshman year of college and instantly knew this was the start of a friendship that would last a lifetime. She’s even one of the reasons I met Jack! During a birthday celebration, Annie waved me over when we spotted an old friend—who just happened to be Jack’s best friend. Annie has been there not only throughout my life but also for my story with Jack, and she was the very first to give me a thumbs-up about him :) So much so, I knew I had to ask her to officiate our elopement and give us one more thumbs-up on the big day.
