The Rosa family has been coming to Lake Placid for almost 20 years and have many favorite places and things to do! Let us know if you have any questions about any bars/restaurants/activities.

Coffee/To Go

Big Mountain Deli - We are truly obsessed with Big Mountain Deli. They have a giant wall of crepe options and breakfast and lunch sandwiches. They can get backed up so be aware it might take a while if the line is long. There are a couple tables up for grabs after you order or it is good for take out. Everything is amazing but especially the Brie/Brown Sugar/Apple crepe.

Bluesberry Bakery - Cute little German bakery across from Big Mountain Deli. Muffins and scones and coffee.

The Coffee Bar - Cute coffee shop at the end of the inside shopping center. Overlooks the water.

And there is a Starbucks.

Restaurants

Lisa G's - This is a little off of main street but an easy walk and great! They have a huge menu and a good vibe. In the winter we'd recommend a reservation, not sure how crowded it gets in the fall. NOTE: Lisa G's is on the opposite end of town from the Mirror Lake Inn, where welcome drinks are Friday night, almost a mile and a half, so it would be a longer walk than most if you eat here Friday right before Welcome Drinks,

Lake Placid Pub and Brew - Another one of our favorites, great pub food. The lowest level is a bar you can hang out at while waiting for a table. They do not take reservations. Right next to the Hampton Inn.

The Cottage at Mirror Lake - Small, but one of our absolute favorites. Usually g there for lunch or drinks and appetizers. And right across the street from Welcome Drinks at Mirror Lake Inn.

Whiteface Lodge - This is a very short drive from main street but a great option if you're looking for anything more upscale. We sometimes like coming over here for just a drink and then head back to town for dinner.

Caffe Rustica - also a very short drive, but only a mile or two from downtown and its very cute and great food.

Dack Shack - Up on Saranac Avenue. Good for larger groups too.

Salt of the Earth - High end farm to table. About a mile outside of town. Great option for foodies.

Smoke Signals, Luna, Jimmy's 21 , Black Bear, and many more options are all also right downtown.

Bars

The Cottage at Mirror Lake Inn - Really perfect if you want a drink during the day or earlier in the evening. They have a deck and are right on the lake. In the winter we always play pond hockey right outside the cottage.

Lake Placid Pub and Brew - Mentioned above, P&B is also great for just a drink in the basement bar..

Wiseguys Sports Bar - Sports bar with a pool table, dart board, and other bar games.

Lake Placid Lanes - Formerly Bowlwinkles, who doesn't love drinking in a bowling alley? The also have pool, darts, shuffleboard, foosball, and a multi-sport simulator.

Crown Plaza Great Room - small bar in this hotel lounge has nice views overlooking the lake and a more quiet and uncrowded sitting area.

Zig Zags- Casual dive bar in the middle of town. Good for later in the night. There's a toboggan out front so it's easy to find. Don't sit in the toboggan, I think Timmy peed in that one time.

Activities

There is so much to do in the Lake Placid area if you are staying extra time, but a few things you can do close by are:

The Olympic Center - The Olympic Center with the ice rinks from the 1932 and the 1980 Olympics is right in the center of town. You can take the Olympic Museum Tour, do In-line skating on the outdoor Olympic speed skating oval, and there may be Curling Lessons offered on one of the indoor Olympic ice rinks.

Mt. Van Hoevenberg - In the summer you can participate in Wheeled Luge lesson or Biathalon day. Other activities at the mountain include Mountain Biking and Hiking.

Hiking - There are many places to hike - the area is known for the 46 peaks.

The Olympic Jumping Complex - When driving into or out of Lake Placid keep an eye out for the Olympic ski jumps. These are still actively used for training in the winter. In the Summer you can visit the complex to do the Sky Flyer ZipLine, or take an elevator to the Top of the Jumps.

Whiteface Mountain - you can find more hiking trails, Cloudsplitter Gondola Rides, Disc Golf, or drive Veterans Memorial Highway for amazing views.
