The Million Dollar Highway is a breathtaking scenic mountain pass that anyone traveling in Southwest Colorado must-see. This famous section of highway has breathtaking panoramas of steep, jagged mountains. Originally hand carved to transport ore to the railroad in the small town of Ouray, it was later widened and paved. It is said to be one of the most beautiful roads in the USA and is a section of the greater San Juan Skyway, a 233-mile loop through some of the most iconic terrain in Southwest Colorado. The best part about this activity is that it is ~FREE~.

Ouray's Perimeter Trail is a unique 5.6-mile hiking experience that features remarkably varied terrain, unmatched scenery, four waterfalls, six bridges, up close geology and a hidden troll. Hiking it involves approximately 1,600 feet of elevation gain and loss and will typically take 4-5 hours to complete. Something everyone can enjoy and does not cost a thing.

Tanner and I completed the Downstream Route, which travels north along an engaging and varied traverse above the river and along the cliffs of the gorge. We had a blast with our guide, Spencer (10/10 would recommend).
