You could say this love story has been a long time in the making… like, since elementary school long. We first met in 4th grade—back when homework was hard, recess was serious business, and cooties were still a thing. In 7th grade (2013, for the curious), we officially became “Colin and Olivia.” Middle school sweethearts turned high school sweethearts turned… well, here we are. Our first “date” (if you can call two awkward teens sitting near each other at a Maumee High School football game a date) kicked off a journey that’s taken us from hallway hand-holding to moving into our first apartment—and raising our dog-kids, Nelli and Munsie. After years of growing up side-by-side, Colin popped the question in the summer of 2024 on the beaches of Anna Maria Island—where Olivia has joined the McGann crew for countless family trips. It had been a long travel day, and we were out for a casual walk (or so Olivia thought). Colin’s brother Aidan was stealthily following behind to snap photos… until he misread a signal and sprinted back to the condo thinking he’d been spotted. Classic. Despite the disappearing photographer, Colin went for it. Olivia, caught completely off guard, briefly wondered if this might finally be one of his ring-pop jokes. Then he pulled out a real ring—its diamonds from Colin’s Grandma Linda, who would have loved for Olivia to have them. Cue the tears. The answer was an instant, heartfelt yes. We’ve moved into our own place, are navigating adulthood together, and can’t wait to celebrate a major milestone: getting married on our anniversary. When we tie the knot, we’ll have been together for half of our lives. Yes—half. We're either insanely lucky, slightly insane, or a little bit of both.
