Liv and Matt first connected online through a dating app called Hinge in the fall of 2021. Although she is originally from Dallas, at the time Liv resided in Denver. While Liv maintains that leaving Texas as much as possible will enrich one's life immensely, Matt has always had the good sense never to leave. In September, when Liv was here visiting her family, the Hinge app must have figured they were close enough. Matt saw Liv and her bike pictures and promptly swiped right. They quickly connected about bikes, Liv's medical mission work, Matt's work in the foster care system, Christianity, messing up recipes, and lots of other things they had in common.
They spent the next couple of months getting to know each other through texting and phone calls since by the time they had connected Liv was already back in Denver.
They finally had a chance to go on their first date the Friday after Thanksgiving that year. They both knew it was a match and decided not to wait long for a second date - they went for a mountain bike ride the next morning.
For the next year or so, the relationship grew extraordinarily profitable for Southwest Airlines. Matt flew to Denver and Liv flew to Dallas often, and they bonded over their mutual love for Christ, biking, hiking, and all things outdoors. In November 2022, they rented a UHaul, packed up Liv's things, and moved her back to Texas.
Matt proposed last September at the home they will soon share as a family with his three children - Tyler, Hudson, and Leila. The proposal did not come as a surprise...lots of unintentional hints had been dropped not just by Matt but also the kids, who did their best to keep the secret but found the excitement pretty hard to contain!
Liv and Matt are so excited to have you join us for this celebration. We believe marriage is a gift from God, and we ask for your prayers as we embark on our new life together.
