Luke and Olivia’s story isn’t your typical high school sweetheart tale. They both attended Divine Child through their elementary and high school years, but they traveled in different circles. Olivia was the quintessential student who thrived in the academic environment, while Luke was more eager to close the chapter on his school days. Despite their differing social circles, little did they know that their paths were destined to intertwine.

Their story truly began when Olivia invited her friends, including Zach—who is not only one of her really good friends but also Luke’s cousin—to her apartment for a small get-together during her junior year of undergrad. Zach brought Luke along, sparking a connection that led them to start dating shortly after.

Luke, attending the University of Detroit Mercy, and Olivia, at the University of Michigan, found themselves navigating the challenges of a budding relationship amidst their busy academic schedules. Luke’s commitment to their blossoming relationship was evident in his tireless efforts to bridge the distance between them. Although it was a forty minute drive, one way, he became a familiar face at University of Michigan football games and made the trek to Ann Arbor nearly every weekend—and sometimes even during the week!

When Olivia returned home for grad school in 2019, their relationship flourished with ease. They enjoyed simple pleasures like movies, bowling, and dairy-free ice cream runs.

When COVID hit in 2020, their dating dynamics shifted towards outdoor picnics and managing a shared Animal Crossing Island, showcasing their ability to adapt and find happiness in each other’s company under any circumstances.

In the summer of 2020, Luke moved into a rental house with his cousin Dave. During this time, both he and Olivia were completing their graduate degrees. Graduation marked a new chapter for them, with Olivia finishing in 2022 and Luke in 2023. They discovered new hobbies together, such as gardening, and continued to deepen their connection, all while saving and planning for the future.

The culmination of their journey came in December 2023, when during a visit to Island Lake State Park on a seemingly gloomy day, the weather cleared just as Luke proposed by the lake—a moment that marked the beginning of their next adventure together.

As they prepare for their wedding, Luke and Olivia look forward to celebrating with those closest to them, marking the start of their lifelong journey as partners who've grown from acquaintances to soulmates, sharing not just love, but a deep friendship and an unwavering support for one another.
