Though we came from different places—Liv from Denver, Colorado, and Chase from Spring Grove, Minnesota—we found each other during our freshman year at The University of Sioux Falls, where we were both student-athletes. After meeting in a communications class (where we didn’t exactly see eye-to-eye), we officially hit it off at a house party, and from there, the adventure began.

At first glance, we seemed so different—Chase came from a small town with all brothers, while Liv was a city girl with one sister. Instead of being pulled apart by those differences, we were drawn closer together. What started as curiosity about each other’s backgrounds quickly turned into a deep appreciation for our unique perspectives. We found joy in learning from each other’s experiences and interests, and that journey has made our relationship stronger.

Dating during college was some of the most fun we’ve ever had. From sneaking around dorm curfews to sitting outside all night talking just to hang out together (because we got in trouble sneaking around dorm curfews…), we never ran out of things to say. Our sophomore summer was when things really got exciting—we stayed on campus for sports and moved in with our friends for the first time. It was pure fun: we all worked together at an after-school daycare program and spent the summer camping, going to the lake, and visiting each other’s hometowns. We were surrounded by some of our closest friends, making memories and living life to the fullest.

But it didn’t stop there. As the years went on, we met even more of our closest friends, living from college house to college house with some of our best buddies, and continuing to make unforgettable memories along the way. Whether we were enjoying lazy afternoons, hosting game nights, or simply navigating the ups and downs of college life, each moment brought us closer together.

One of the best parts of our relationship is how easily our friends became "our" friends. Whether it was Liv’s teammates or roommates, or Chase’s basketball crew, we quickly clicked with each other’s people. We both value friendships deeply, and we loved that our circles blended so effortlessly. Those friendships shaped our college years and helped us grow together, both as individuals and as a couple. We learned early on how important it was to surround ourselves with people who lifted us up, supported us, and shared our journey. Having your partner genuinely love and value your friends is such a gift, and we feel incredibly lucky to have that.

In 2022, we took a big step and adopted Midnight, our puppy (well he is technically 9 but he is JUST A BABY). Bringing him home was a little scary—here we were, living on our own for the first time in our relationship and trying to convince ourselves we were “adults,” but not really believing it, ha! How could we possibly take care of a living animal? But that attitude flipped so quickly when we brought him home; he truly became a part of us. Midnight goes everywhere with us, and we honestly can’t imagine our lives without him. He fills our days with so much joy and cuddles, and it feels like he was always meant to be part of our journey.

Fast forward to October 20th, 2023—on Liv’s birthday, Chase completely surprised her with a proposal (thank God she had her Pinterest board up to date!). He knew how much it meant to her to have her family there, so he took her to one of her favorite mountain towns back home and popped the question in the most beautiful spot. We spent the whole week celebrating with family, making it the perfect way to kick off this new chapter in our lives.

Since then, life has been a whirlwind! Liv started a new job, Chase landed a promotion, and we bought our first home together! Now, we’re diving into wedding planning, and we couldn’t be more excited to celebrate this next chapter with all of you.
