Dressing to Impress: What’s the Attire for the Big Day?
Get ready to dress to impress! We’re asking for formal attire to match the elegance of the evening, but don’t worry—this is a celebration, not a stuffy ballroom! Think: sleek suits, gorgeous gowns, and dresses that twirl perfectly on the dance floor. Ladies, feel free to sparkle; gents, bring your A-game! We want you to look fabulous for photos and feel fabulous for dancing the night away.
It’s going to be a night full of fun, laughter, and moves you won’t want to miss!
Staying the night? Here’s where you’ll want to book!
We’ve got a block of rooms reserved at Hotel Murano, and we highly recommend staying here for ultimate convenience and a touch of luxury!
You can grab the discount code under our Suggested Accommodations tab, or if you prefer the old-school way, just mention the Olivia Whidby and Tommy Oliver room block when calling to book. Sweet dreams await!
Hotel Hotel Murano Sold Out? No Worries—Here Are Other Great Options!
Hotel Murano’s got plenty of rooms, but if you’re looking for more options, we’ve got you covered! Just two blocks away, you’ll find the Marriott Tacoma Downtown and Courtyard Tacoma Downtown—both great spots to rest your head.
When Should You Arrive for the Weekend? Let’s Plan Ahead!
Come join us in starting the celebration early! We’re kicking things off with Welcome Drinks at McMenamins Pub Elks Temple (565 Broadway, Tacoma, WA 98402) starting at 7 PM on Thursday, the 16th. We can’t wait to see everyone and start the party together!
Looking for fun things to do in Tacoma? You’re in luck!
Welcome to Tacoma! Here’s a fun list of things to do if you’re joining us from out of town!
Museum of Glass – Immerse yourself in the world of art and glassmaking at this must-see museum! Explore stunning exhibits featuring breathtaking glass sculptures, installations, and live glassblowing demonstrations. Be sure to check out the iconic Glass Bridge, which offers incredible views of the city and the waterfront—perfect for snapping some memorable photos! Whether you’re an art lover or just looking for a cool spot to visit, the Museum of Glass is an experience you won’t want to miss!
Point Defiance Zoo & Aquarium – This is one of our favorite spots to visit! We love getting up close and personal with the animals (a good giraffe selfie fixes everything!). Whether you’re a kid at heart or just an animal lover, this zoo has something for everyone. Plus, it’s right next to the stunning Point Defiance Park, so you can enjoy some nature after hanging out with the animals! It’s a must-see for anyone in town!
LeMay Car Museum – Calling all car enthusiasts! We know you didn’t come to Tacoma just for the wedding! Check out over 300 classic cars in one of the world’s most impressive collections. Trust us, this is your chance to escape and receive Tacoma’s most important “cultural enrichment”.
Ruston Way Waterfront – This is one of our favorite places to walk around or grab a bite with a view! It’s the perfect spot to relax and take a break from all the wedding excitement for the weekend, if needed!
Washington State History Museum – Get ready to dive into the state’s history (if that sounds fun to you) with exhibits that are both educational and entertaining. Who knows, you might even learn something new about Washington – like how it’s not just about the rain!
Foss Waterway Seaport – Step back in time and learn about Tacoma’s maritime history. Plus, the boats are gorgeous to see!
Tacoma Dome – If you enjoy marveling at giant, inflatable-looking domes, this is a fun spot to check out! It’s a great way to kill some time between wedding festivities if you’ve truly done everything else on our list
Local Coffee Shops & Breweries – Tacoma is known for its vibrant coffee and beer scene. Stop by places like The Red Hot (for hot dogs and local brews) or Coffeethyme for the perfect cup of coffee.
Dorky’s Arcade Bar – After the Rehearsal Dinner, join us at Dorky’s for some retro fun and games (yes, we’ll be there too, let’s make it a party!).
Walk Around Proctor District – Cute boutiques, quirky shops, and cozy cafés galore! Perfect for a low-key afternoon of shopping and exploring. It’s like a treasure hunt, but with less stress and more coffee.
Puyallup Riverwalk – If you’re craving some fresh air and a peaceful walk (perfect for introverts needing a solo moment), this scenic path along the river is the place to be! Enjoy calm, beautiful views—just be ready for some classic Tacoma “misty” January weather. If you’re visiting from out of town, you won’t want to miss our signature overcast skies. Bring a coat… or maybe even a blanket, depending on how brave you’re feeling!
Do you guys know that there are no items on your registry?!
Since we already have cohabitation covered at this point, we’re choosing to focus our registry on something we both truly cherish—travel! This summer, we’ll be embarking on the honeymoon of a lifetime, exploring South Africa, Madagascar, and Mauritius.
Rather than traditional gifts, we’d love for you to contribute to our adventure fund. Our registry on The Knot lists different parts of our journey that you can sponsor, and in return, we’ll send you a polaroid photo of us on location, enjoying the gift you gave, with a letter describing our experience!
Thank you so much for helping us make these unforgettable memories—your support means the world to us!
Can Our Kids Join the Fun?
While we love all of the little ones in our lives, due to venue constraints, we’re keeping this wedding adults-only.
That being said, we do have two exceptions—our flower girl and ring bearer—who get to join in on the fun (lucky them, right?).
We know finding childcare can be tricky, and we don’t want that to keep anyone from celebrating with us. So, we’re planning a family-friendly BBQ in July 2025 before we jet off on our honeymoon! If we don’t see you in January, we hope to catch up with you and your family then.
Stay tuned for more details on the BBQ!”
Will I need my ID at the wedding?
If you’re planning on enjoying a drink (or two), you’ll need to show some ID! Our caterer is required to card every guest requesting alcohol, so make sure to bring your ID—no sneaking in with those fake mustaches, folks!
Will we be outside at all?
While our ceremony and reception will be cozy and indoors, there is a short, uncovered walk to the castle from the car drop-off zone. So, if you love the outdoors, you’ll get a brief taste—just don’t forget that it’s January in the PNW, so bring your best ‘I’m ready for rain’ attitude and maybe a stylish umbrella!
Is anything happening the morning after the wedding?
Yes! The groom’s family will be hosting a Farewell Breakfast in Hotel Murano’s 4th-floor hospitality suite (Room #400) from 10:00 AM - Noon. Swing by for one last chance to say goodbye, grab some coffee (or a mimosa, we won’t judge), and fuel up before you hit the road. It’s the perfect opportunity to sneak in some last-minute hugs and make sure you didn’t leave anything behind… like your dignity after a night of dancing!
