Jorge and Parris story began in the summer of 2018. They met while working at Target in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. As soon as they met, they realized there was an instant connection, leading to them quickly becoming best friends.


Through becoming such close friends, they ended up healing each other and realized they were spending nearly every day together. If they weren’t physically together, they were constantly talking to each other over the phone.


Eventually, the people around them caught on to the friendship that seemed to be becoming something more. However, with Parris’ stubborn nature, she wouldnt refer to Jorge as her boyfriend until he asked her directly. On New Year’s Eve 2018, Parris met Jorge’s friends in Iowa City to ring in the New Year together. Little did she know, Jorge had a bouquet of flowers hidden in the closet back home with a specific plan on how he wanted to ask her to be his girlfriend.


As New Year’s tends to go, they ended up having such a great time with friends that they had an impromptu sleepover on a couch instead of going home. Once they were home, New Year’s Day was spent recovering in their sweatpants and eating greasy fast food. At the end of the day, after a much-needed nap and snacks, Jorge finally pulled Parris away from their friends and asked her to be his girlfriend (and gave her the flowers that had been sitting in his closet without water for almost an entire day).
As the years went on, Parris went to school to become an esthetician, while Jorge went back to school to get a degree in finance. Through all the late-night dinners at 11 pm after going to school and then working immediately afterward, their relationship continued to grow stronger.


In 2023, they decided to move to Des Moines, Iowa. After living there for a year and having been together since 2018, it was no secret that Parris wanted to take the next step in their relationship. Jorge, however, is someone who loves to plan extravagant surprises, so he had to keep his plans of proposing under wraps.
On March 12th, 2024, while on vacation back in Las Vegas, Jorge had his plans all set to propose. The family convinced Parris that the day was jam-packed with activities down to the minute, so she was completely unsuspecting of any secret plans.


The first stop of the day was at The Little Church of the West, where Parris’ parents had been married (as well as some of her aunts and uncles!). Parris was told that the church was only letting them take a 5-minute tour so that everyone could look, get a picture, then leave. Little did Parris know, Jorge and Parris’ mom had arranged to close the church off for the tour to execute the proposal. One by one, her family took photos until it was finally time for her and Jorge. They took their photo, and when Parris thought, “That’s it, let’s get a move on!” Jorge said, “I have one more pose,” and proceeded to get down on one knee. The video that captured the moment is priceless due to Parris’ complete and utter shock. She had been completely stunned that the moment she had been waiting for was really happening.


They were surrounded by her family in the place where her parents were married, and it was the best day of their lives. Afterward, they went to Margaritaville, got some delicious food (10/10 recommend), and margaritas, then proceeded to celebrate with their family.


Now, on July 19th, 2025, they will get to share and experience the next best day of their lives with all of you.
