Our Wedding

We started dating in summer 2012, after meeting at an Applebee's. We bonded over our love for books- specifically Stephen King- history, and travel. We'd been dating for a few months when Hurricane Sandy hit, which left us separated and dealing with our respective work/family after the storm. We said "I love you" for the first time on the phone after the hurricane, and were separated for nearly two weeks due to Tricia working in a hotel which was swamped with Sandy evacuees, and Rich taking care of his elderly mother as well as working at a school that was over an hour away, with limited gas. That's the longest we've ever been apart! We took our first vacation together in February 2013 to Washington DC. To this day, that's one of our favorite trips we've ever taken! Since then, we've gone to NYC many times, Philly, Florida, Virginia, PA, and have several trips planned. We are tentatively planning a Route 66 road trip honeymoon! Our favorite things to do together going shopping, to the book store, traveling, going to the movies, and hanging out at home with our cat.

Our courtship

Tricia was born in Long Branch, NJ and moved many times throughout her childhood- mostly in Monmouth County. She was a bookworm throughout childhood and reading is still her favorite hobby. In high school she participated in track, drama club, color guard, poetry club, and latin club. She went to college in Florida for hospitality management and has worked mostly in hotels. She currently works in dispatch, having recently obtained her 911 operator certification. She also works in the hotel industry- doing occasional overnight shifts doing overnight accounting. She is obsessed with Christmas, Pinterest, and obscure history. She also knows the words to every Taylor Swift song.

About Tricia

Rich was born and raised in Jersey City and spent his childhood there, his family later moved to Old Bridge. Rich has degrees from Rutgers University and New Jersey City University, including advanced degrees in education. In college, he graduated with honors and was a member of honor societies as well as the Gamma Sigma fraternity. He works for the South Brunswick Public Schools. He is a huge Yankees fan, loves Rutgers football, science, history, and also enjoys DIY projects, trains, and science fiction like Star Trek.

About the New Hope and Ivyland Railroad

We'll be having an intimate wedding for our closest friends and family. We will begin with a short ceremony aboard an open air passenger car on the New Hope and Ivyland Railroad, followed by brunch and a train ride in the attached first class dining car. The train dates to the 1920's and the railroad station opened in 1891. The train is special to us, as we spent Valentine's day there the first year we were engaged. Rich has always been fascinated by trains, and we were both captivated by the town around the railroad. Learn more about the railroad here: https://www.newhoperailroad.com https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_Hope_and_Ivyland_Railroad

Parking in New Hope

Parking for the ceremony can be found in the lot at the train station located at 32 W Bridge Street. Parking will be provided free of charge for our guests. Also, there is an additional lot located at Union Square, a block from the train station, as well as metered parking throughout the city.

F.A.Q.

What should I wear? -Anything you want! We are anticipating warm weather, so dress comfortably! We do not have a dress code, but we ourselves will be in formal wedding clothes. What if it rains? -That's okay! The ceremony/reception will be completely inside the train so the rain won't ruin our day! What time should I be at the wedding?-The train will depart at 9:30, so we recomend arriving around 9 am. We will have coffee and tea set up on the train platform for our guests! How long will the ceremony/reception last? -The ceremony will be about twenty minutes, followed by a two hour brunch aboard the train. We are anticipating everything being over by 12 pm. Can I take pictures during the ceremony/reception? -We ask that you refrain from taking pictures during the ceremony, so as not to obscure our photographers shots. We promise we will share the wonderful photos with you! During the reception, please feel free to take as many photos as you would like. To make it easier for you to share photos, we are using the hashtag #allaboardkirkweddingHow and when should I RSVP?-You can RSVP using the enclosure card in your invitation, via this website, by facebook, email, phone call, or text! Will be there food/alcohol?-YES!!! We will have coffee and tea available before the wedding on the train platform. Immediately following the ceremony we will have mimosas and bloody marys, and then we will have a full breakfast buffet during the train ride. What if I have special dietary requests? -Just let us know! We will have a ton of "typical" brunch food during the reception, but if for any reason you need a special plate of gluten free/vegan/etc food, just let us know at least one week prior to the wedding and we will take care of it! Can I bring a date?-Yes, please just let us know when you RSVP who you will be bringing! Are children welcome? -Children are welcome, but please let us know when you RSVP who you will be bringing! Why a brunch wedding? Why are you getting married on a train? -We really like brunch! We didn't want to have a dj, or dancing, so a brunch wedding made the most sense. Also, one of our first dates was at ihop and brunch is something we love to do together. As for the train, Rich surprised Tricia with brunch on the train the Valentine's day after getting engaged and it was very special! Rich, his father, and Riley all shared a love of trains as well, and that's something we wanted to honor. Also, we wanted to treat our guests to a memorable reception! Is the train going anywhere?-Yes, the train will be going on a two hour ride in the New Hope area. We will not be disembarking the train- simply enjoying the scenery. Are there bathrooms? -Bathrooms are located on the station platform. There are also bathrooms located on the train itself. Do I need to bring a gift? -Your presence if enough! It means so much to us to celebrate with our friends and family. No gifts are necessary! If you would like to gift us with something, we are registered at Bed Bath and Beyond. What night should we book a hotel room for?-We will be staying in town Saturday night, and leaving Sunday after the wedding. However you're welcome to stay either Saturday night or Sunday night- whichever fits your needs best!

Q + A

Due to the fact that we are having a Sunday morning wedding, we recommend to our guests that you reserve for Saturday evening. The hotel we have blocked for our guests is amenable to offering late checkout if needed, and they will also store luggage for any guests needing it as well. Rich, Riley, and I will be in town Friday and Saturday night. We will be departing Sunday following the wedding. There are many things to do in New Hope and Peddlers Village for those who are planning to stay more than one night! To book the hotel, please call 1-877-665-0778 and tell them you are part of the Talerico/Kirk wedding. They have a special rate for us. Please reserve by 5/13- that is the last day the discounted rate will be available for our guests.

Things to Do

The Proposal

Our proposal was a very special day. In July of 2015, Rich planned a day in NYC. This is a common way we spend the day. Rich led Tricia through midtown Manhattan ostensibly to visit a bookstore. On W. 55th St. Rich suddenly got down on one knee and asked Tricia to marry him. Rich put a sea glass ring on Tricia's finger, this a favorite of Tricia's. The location was City Center, the place where Rich's parents had met in 1959. This had great sentimental value to Rich and now to both of us. We were also lucky that we could share the good news after the proposal not only with those here but with Rich's mom, who died in October of 2015.
