Our favorite local mountain to hike, Mt. Cardigan has an open summit with a fire tower (tower not accessible to the public). Mt. Cardigan has great views in all directions, and you can see nearby Newfound Lake, the White Mountains (including Mt. Washington), and Killington Peak in VT!
We recommend the West Ridge trail from Cardigan Mountain State Park, a 2.7 mile round trip.
Just across the river in VT, this gorge has breathtaking views from the bridge over US-4, or you can walk to the bottom.
Just before the Gorge itself is the Gorge Village, which features the Vermont Antique Mall, several other interesting shops, and a distillery. Definitely worth a visit!
Just a few minutes from our house, Hoptimystic is a nano-brewery we like to visit. They are usually open on Saturdays, check their schedule for other days.
Another local food and beer option, just over the river in VT!
The town of Hanover and Dartmouth College are worth a walk through! We enjoy ice skating on Occam Pond in the winter and grabbing a meal at Molly's.
