June 23, 2014 was a hot, sunny Monday afternoon.
The first time we saw each other, Paula was walking into the Salvation Army as Colin was coming out of the store.
We saw each other again just down the road at Value Village. We passed each other a few times without saying anything.
At this point Paula decided that if she saw him again she would say hello.
As she made her way through the store toward the fitting rooms she saw him again. Ok! This was it! She went up to him and said, "Hi! I see you are thrifting today too." She doesn't remember what he said, but does remember that he had an accent!
Tall, dark, handsome AND an accent?! How did this piece of good luck happen to present itself to her?
We ended up in the same line at the check out during which time we engaged in small talk and then Colin asked her if she'd like to go for a drink with him.
We went to a nearby lounge and spent the next hour or so talking, laughing, sharing about our kids and just generally getting to know each other. We decided to take a drive out to Sylvan Lake in his mustang. His pride and joy.
We spent the rest of the day at the lake walking along the beach, talking, having dinner at a roof top restaurant and watching the sun set.
This was the first day of the rest of our lives together. Life has thrown us many challenges, adventures, joys and sorrows. Through it all we have learned about each other and grown stronger and closer and deeper in love. We are beyond blessed to have met our best friend and soul mate that warm, sunny day!
