Choosing Italy for our wedding was almost an unspoken decision between the both of us.
Choosing the town within Italy was a different conversation.
We spent a year in Italy together pursuing our MBA through CIMBA. It wasn't a surprise that after our travels, we fell in love with many of the small towns across the country. When beginning to plan our wedding, we felt the options were endless on places to host our closest family and friends.
But Asolo kept coming back to our minds. It was only minutes from our campus and became a place we spent countless dinners, making homemade pizza, biking up hills, and sipping grappa. It was a place we came to sit in il dolce far niente, the sweetness of doing nothing.
Asolo is often referred to as the "City of a Hundred Horizons" and "The Pearl of the Province of Treviso". It has been called one of Italy's most evocative historical centers.
We worked with a local artist in Asolo, named Barbara, to design our crest and an outline of the city. We knew when designing it, we had to include the symbol of the Veneto, the lion.
If you go to Venice, you'll find the lion symbol everywhere. The lion represents Saint Mark and is typically winged and standing strong, representing protection, power, strength, and wisdom.
In Asolo, you can find the same lion symbol in the main piazza, except there is a small but critical difference. The lion is seated. This is because Asolo was a place for those to retreat - to rest, eat, drink, and enjoy. We hope you feel this during your time here.
