Austin is full of activities for everyone whether you are looking for nature, nightlife, or good food! We are sharing some of our favorite things to do.

We also added a couple of day trip options for those who are staying beyond the weekend.

Activities

Kayak on Lady Bird Lake

Go kayak or paddleboard on Lady Bird Lake and take in the beautiful Austin skyline. Lady Bird Lake Rentals, Rowing Dock, and Live Love Paddle are all great places to rent kayaks.

Walk and Shop on South Congress Ave

Visit the iconic South Congress Avenue to dine and shop, and maybe even buy a pair of cowboy boots at Allen's Boots.

Eat and Drink on Rainey Street

If you are looking for a place to spend an afternoon with good food and drinks - look no further. Rainey Street is known for its casual settings with bars that look like houses and delicious food. Banger's is one of our favorites for its sausages and great beer selection.

HIKE AT BARTON CREEK GREENBELT

The Greenbelt is a 7-mile stretch of trails for those who are interested in getting some exercise in!

Watch the Sunset AT MOUNT BONNELL

Mount Bonnell gives a great view of Austin and the Colorado River. It's extra gorgeous if you visit during sunset.

Sunday Farmers' Market at Mueller

2006 Philomena St, Austin, TX 78723, USA

Farmers market near where we live that we go to every Sunday from 10:00am – 2:00pm!

Nightlife

You can't visit Austin without checking out its nightlife! Here are a couple of options and areas based on what you are looking for:

1. Dirty 6th is perfect for those looking for great live music and a lively party. This famous Austin party street is closed to vehicle traffic during weekend nights and is packed with people! It's within minutes walking distance from the Westin and Courtyard downtown and we recommend checking it out just to see it once!

2. East 6th is perfect for those looking for a more relaxing setting. We would recommend checking out Zilker Brewing, Lefty's, Whistler's, Daydreamer, and Uptown Sports Club.

3. Rainey Street is perfect for those looking for a rowdy house party vibe. The street is full of bars converted from a house where you can share a drink in the backyard.

4. The Domain is perfect for those looking for a place to shop and drink. The Domain is an outdoor shopping area with drinks, food, and shopping all in one place.

Day Trips Ideas

Fredericksburg Wine Tastings

Fredericksburg, the Texas wine country, is only 90 minutes out of Austin with lots of amazing wineries to check-out. You can either drive out there for a day-trip or hire a shuttle to take you on a winery tour. April is also a great time to visit for the wildflowers and great weather.

Website

San Antonio

San Antonio is 90 minutes out of Austin and a great idea for a day trip for those interested. You can visit the Alamo, river walk (best at night time), and market square
