*Kohl and Peyton were each asked to be in the wedding party of Jacob and Taylor Harder in March 2020. Peyton knew Taylor from highschool swim team and Kohl is Jacobs favorite cousin. When Kohl saw Peyton's photo on the wedding website he pulled some strings with Taylor to be matched with Peyton for walking down the aisle!

* After the wedding, Peyton left for spring break in Florida. On that Florida trip, the pandemic lockdown began and the two were stuck half a country apart! Kohl and Peyton continued to text and keep in touch despite the lockdown. They continued talking night and day, even after they had their first argument about who left who "on read".

* After months of talking on the phone, participating in quarantine trends, and finishing the college year online, Kohl was able to travel to Texas to visit his Aunt Loree (Oma) and Uncle Gerald (Opa). He used this trip as an excuse to take Peyton on the first date he had promised months before. They got ice cream and walked around Peyton's neighborhood pond feeding turtles and ducks. They made a great pair right off the bat; he brought Peyton some of her favorite snacks and Peyton brought extra napkins in her purse when he spilled ice cream all over his hands. Nothing ever changes!

*In July of 2020, Peyton's family were able to travel to Lake Tahoe for a getaway. As Kohl's parents now live in California, he was able to drive up and see her. The two went on a hike where Kohl had planned a date to watercolor paint at the peak. While Peyton was painting the lake, Kohl painted "Will you be my girlfriend?" on his canvas.

*When the school year started again, Peyton was attending Nursing school in Dallas and Kohl was pursuing his dual degree of Aerospace and Mechanical Engineering at Oklahoma State. They were able (mostly Kohl) to drive the four hours to visit each other often. Peyton survived her first trip with Kohl's family to Hawaii to celebrate his grandparents Grammy and Popita. On the trip, Kohl received many questions along the lines of “Peyton is amazing, why on earth is she dating you?” Kohl also passed the test of meeting the Chicago Martin crew, even if he wasn't able to explore Chicago very well after the Parker wedding!

* Kohl and Peyton continued to date, go to football games, help each other in school, go to church together, meet new friends, and attend each others graduations. Peyton moved to Fort Worth to be a pediatric nurse at Cook Children's, and Kohl moved to Rockwall to be an engineer for L3Harris.

*Even though the two were closer, they still lived an hour and a half apart across DFW. In August of 2022, Peyton decided she needed a friend when Kohl wasn’t there. They went the Keller HSNT and quickly found a cat. They named her Beans and Kohl signed the adoption forms as her emergency contact. Kohl will be officially adopting Beans after the wedding. Kohl was jealous that Peyton had a buddy he didn't, so in September of 2024 he got a Australian Shepherd-Labrador mix named Butters. Peyton will be officially adopting Butters after the wedding.

*Over Thanksgiving weekend 2023, Kohl convinced Peyton that his family was having a weekend Thanksgiving brunch since Peyton worked thanksgiving night and couldn't visit them then. It was here that he asked her to marry him. He did well to follow his sister-in-law Haley's advice to hire a secret photographer. When Peyton and Kohl were walking back from the lake where he proposed, he handed her a pair of keys. They were the keys to a 1969 Ford Bronco that was parked out front! Peyton had looked at it and obsessed over it when they pulled up to the house, but had no idea Kohl had found her dream car for them to rebuild together. Kohl made a perfect memory through their engagement, planning every detail and including their family. Peyton could not have been happier!

Kohl and Peyton plan on living in Dallas after they get married. Peyton will was continue to work in the Pediatric ICU, and Kohl at L3Harris. They attend Watermark Fort Worth and Dallas together, and Beans and Butters are excited to move into one home with their two favorite humans.
