Our Wedding

In October of 2022, I went to Rutherfordton to spend time with friends and go on a hike in the beautiful mountains of North Carolina. Sitting around a bon fire, someone mentioned that their friend Zander was going to stop by. Each person gushed about how great he was and I was anticipating his arrival. Shortly after, Zander stumbles into the backyard and shouts, “I got into PA school!” He had clearly been celebrating this good news all day, which is why he didn’t remember that I put my number into his phone after a poor attempt of playing Uno. The next day, he texted my friend asking if I was interested in being his wedding date for their friend’s wedding (I said yes and caught the bouquet-I knew it was a sign). Over the next couple weeks, short texts became hour-long phone conversations getting to know one another, and my feelings for him grew each day. I drove to Charlotte to spend his birthday weekend with him and knew I never wanted to be without him. I loved the way he smiled, laughed, and made everyone around do the same, I loved his ease in conversation, the way he dedicated his time and attention to whoever he was with, I loved his drive, determination, and how he saw the same in me when I found it hard to see it myself at that time. He quickly became my best friend and the person I couldn’t envision life without.
