Phong and Trinh met each other in 2017 while helping out at a church retreat for their middle-high school youth. After realizing there was more to the relationship, they took a leap and went on their first official date! The aquarium...such a classic choice.

Thanks to Trinh, Phong was able to finally cross off a huge bucketlist item: visiting Vietnam! Despite being born and raised in the USA, Phong always felt a strong connection to his Vietnamese heritage, so this was a huge moment for him!

Trinh was able to show Phong through so many cities, helping him connect with his heritage and culture. Da Lat was the first major city they got to visit together, just a quick drive from Trinh's hometown.

Nothing special about this one. Someone left behind a cute photo op after their photoshoot and they couldn't pass up the chance for a free pic!

Their first "photoshoot" courtesy of Trinh's sister who was into photography at the time. She told Trinh to do something cute and this is what we got; totally sums up their relationship: playful and full of laughter.

Their first official Christmas spent together! The first of many annual White Elephant pajama parties with their friends, it was just a few months prior that the two decided to be more public about their relationship.

Spontaneous anniversary date to St. Augustine, FL! A town as old as the US itself full of history and culture. Phong surprised her with a helicopter tour of the city, allowing the two a bird's eye view of historic monuments.

White Elephant party number 2! This one was a triple whammy since they celebrated in November; Friendsgiving, Christmas, and Trinh's birthday all in one! (note: the "uong de!!!" on the cake translates to "let's drink")

For their 5th year together, Phong surprised Trinh with tickets to Disney World. According to Phong, seeing Trinh get excited over the fireworks/light show at the castle made him fall in love all over again.

On their second trip together back to Vietnam, Phong, Trinh, and friends checked out a cute Japanese-themed village in Da Lat. Trinh didn't know it yet, but this was Phong's first hint that he had made the decision to propose (this would take another year and then some...)

Invited to a wedding by her childhood friend, Trinh was asked last minute to be a bridesmaid and Phong of course was then picked for groomsman. Phong was in the middle of designing Trinh's dream ring, so I guess you could say they were practicing to walk down the aisle.

Don't take this too seriously...it was actually the bride and groom's idea to take this photo! Phong may be good at spontaneity, but Trinh often needs a cue for posed photos.

Impromptu trip to Atlanta to celebrate a dear friend before she headed off to dental school! This photo was taken after the trio decided they wanted the spa treatment at 1:00 in the morning. (p.s. Phong and Trinh are often told they spoil this friend too much...)

After 4 years of researching the "perfect ring" for Trinh, Phong finally got together with their closest friends and family to ask the big question. Fun fact: Phong forgot his entire speech and Trinh had to ask if he asked her parents for their blessing yet, and Trinh cried despite Phong being the more emotional one usually.
