Getting to San Juan Island is half the fun! Take a scenic ride through the islands as you make your way to Friday Harbor aboard a Washington State Ferry. You can drive your car right onto the ferry, or board as a foot passenger and simply walk on. The Anacortes ferry terminals is a 90-minute drive from Seattle. There are at least five departures for Friday Harbor every day. Detailed route, fare, and schedule information can be found at www.wsdot.wa.gov/ferries.

If you wish to park your car in Anacortes and walk on, there will be plenty of people with cars that can drive you around!

On the Anacortes/San Juan Islands routes:

75% of the space on each vessel is available to reserve. The remaining 25% of vehicle deck space is always held open for emergency and stand-by vehicles. Additional stand-by space may also be available due to no shows. Space is released according to the following schedule:

2 months before the season start date at 7:00AM:

25% of standard vehicle space is released

All 75% of tall, non-standard vehicle space is released

2 weeks before each sailing date at 7:00AM :

Additional 25% of standard vehicle space is released

2 days before each sailing date at 7:00AM:

Final 25% of standard vehicle space is released

Friday Harbor Seaplanes offers multiple daily scheduled flights between Seattle, Friday Harbor and Roche Harbor from South Lake Washington, just minutes from Sea-Tac Airport, downtown Seattle and downtown Bellevue. A 15-minute shuttle ride to and from Seattle-Tacoma International Airport makes for a quick connection. Free parking also available at our Renton location.

Kenmore Air offers scenic flights from Seattle to San Juan Island. They offer 45-minute seaplane flights from Seattle’s Lake Union or Kenmore/Lake Washington to San Juan Island (Friday Harbor & Roche Harbor). Or fly on their Kenmore Air Express land plane service between Boeing Field and San Juan Island (Friday Harbor Airport) in about 35 minutes.
