"You met where?!" is typically the first question that arises when we explain how two East Coast kids, both attending school in Ottawa, crossed paths in Alberta. Joining a trek with a group of university students turned out to be the best decision we ever made. Fortunately, we followed the same training plan and happened to have the same hiking speed. For the next 150km, we chattered away, forging an inseparable friendship. Over the following year, Eric made sure to send a meme at any opportunity, thinking it would "drop a hint." However, it wasn’t until a whole year later, including attending a family wedding together, that Eric revealed to Rachael that "just friends" wasn’t the title he was aiming for. Since then, the last six years have been filled with countless adventures, numerous road trips home, relocations across cities and the country, and being the best partners in crime.
