It took Rachel 40 years and 352 days to meet the one she’d been praying for, but God’s timing was perfect.

Growing up as an only child to a single mom, Rachel dreamed of her wedding day. But with a history of heartbreak and generational cycles, love didn’t come easy. After years of running from God and searching for security in all the wrong places, she finally surrendered. In that healing season, she found peace, joy, and purpose, and quietly whispered to the Lord, “I think I’m ready for a husband.”

Enter Calvin.

They met during a church outreach event on a 95-degree day. Rachel was sweaty, exhausted, and definitely not expecting to meet anyone special. But when she looked up, there he was — a kind-eyed man with a big smile who simply said, “Hi, I’m Calvin.” She didn’t know it then, but her life was about to change.

Weeks later, a friend tried to set her up with a “godly man.” To her surprise, it was the same man from outreach. As they began talking, they discovered how much they shared — their faith, being only children raised by single moms, even the same favorite childhood cartoons. God had clearly orchestrated every detail.

From ministry outings to late-night prayers and inside jokes, Rachel and Calvin quickly realized they didn’t just fit, they were meant for this.

On December 18, 2022, Calvin proposed at the church where they met, asking Rachel to be his forever Co-Captain in life and love.

Since fully surrendering to God’s plan, so much has changed. Their hearts, their lives, even their appearance, have been transformed. God has done a powerful work in them both.

Rachel and Calvin now look toward the future with open hands and joyful hearts, believing they are called to help change the world together, and to laugh their way through every step of it.

This isn’t just a wedding. It’s a step into purpose, a celebration of promise, and the beginning of a forever story written by the One who brought them together.
