For most people today was an ordinary day. They went about doing the things anyone would. But for us it is a most extra-ordinary day. Today we make promises to each other that will last until the end of days, no matter how normal or not those days may be. We make promises for things that are important to us, not anyone else.
So to you I promise to be loving, patient, and faithfulto encourage you in all your endeavors, no matter how silly i may think they are.To grow old with you, but never grow up.I even promise to not squish spiders so you can take them outside.to always be there for you when you have the sniffles and hug you when you cry even if it's because you can't find any bread at the store.Most importantly I promise to love you this day and every day.

Bryan, you are the best thing by far I have ever EVER found on the internet. Better than any funny cat videos, how-to tutorials, or bargains on Amazon. Not that I am calling you a thing, but you are so much more than a person to me. A near constant in my life for the past four years, a voice of reason, a technological wizard with the patience of a saint, a walking Wikipedia of sorts, you usually seem to have the answers or at least a phone on you to look my questions up at a moment's notice.I found you on the internet and have been falling in love with you every day since. I'm more in love with you today than I was yesterday and I bet tomorrow I'll be more in love with you than I am today.I promise to always be honest with you and to defend your honor fiercely. You can count on me to be on your trivia team or your second player. I promise to always and try to be the sunshine on a dark day. I will never stop trying to make you laugh, and will always thank you for little acts of kindness - either in my own words or in the forms of random back rubs and head scratches.My love for you could fill spaces between the stars, infinite, and in fact, if love was like outer-space we would be co-captains on a ship. Not the U.S.S Enterprise, nor the Millennium Falcon, but a firefly class relationSHIP that could navigate asteroid fields, avoid hostile alien encounters, and persevere through the vacuum. ~By RachelI was so amazed in 4th grade when I learned that you could SHOP on the INTERNET. Like...that's how you know you are living in the future. One must be careful on the internet however, because one wrong move and suddenly Chris Hansen could be asking you to 'Take a seat...'My, my, 1997 was a torrid time for talking to strangers on the internet, and I learned to navigate safely and confidently. However I never expected to MEET someone from the internet, let alone my one true love.Yes, Bryan and I met on a dating site - specifically OKCupid - which is reviewed to be 'pretty legit'. When you are as introverted as Bryan and as second-hand paranoid as I am (Thanks Mom!), a dating site is a great solution as it will take all the qualities you look for in a partner and give you the best matches. Bryan messaged me first, about the Teen Girl Squad - which is a zany web animation of stick figures that I adore but not a lot of people know about. Then from that we started talking about trivia and dentists. After a month I was comfortable with meeting up with him, invited him to my board game group, invited him to trivia and it was really Geeks Who Drink annual 'Arrested Development' themed quiz that sealed the deal on our relationship because that event pushed me into 'training' (aka binge-watching Arrested Development) with him for a few weeks.

The Internet is a Scary and Beautiful Place

~ By RachelWhile we we 'training' extensively for an Arrested Development pub quiz, I decided I really liked Bryan. Like I EXCLUSIVELY liked Bryan in a romantic sense. So I asked him to come with me to Wamego, KS for 4th of July. Wamego is a charming little Kansas town that has the state's oldest fireworks show. They have a charming park with weeping willows and a dutch windmill. They have a little train. It's so charming! Their 4th of July Is also a carnival and Bryan got sick after 1 ride on the spinning swings. I had to ride the rest of the rides myself. I had not anticipated this. It threw my plans off; I was going to snuggle on him on these rides that put us in close proximity.He got some food and started feeling better by the time it was dark and the fireworks show was going to start. We laid together on the blanket and we kind of cuddled like awkward teenagers and I was SO close to kissing him under fireworks so I could have said "I saw fireworks when I kissed him" and my insane future self was already telling our future kids this story in my head...but I lost my nerve!It wasn't until he dropped me off and he had to go home I finally did it. It was still an exciting first kiss in my apartment kitchen despite not having any fireworks around.I guess Bryan felt it too since he told me later he did an air-punch and smiled all the way home.

-By RachelOne night in March 2014 after a weird incident I'm not going to talk about here, I knew that Bryan was THE ONE. I knew it, and when I know something that important, I am going to act on it.As fate so happens, my work was doing an 'autism awareness month' puzzle design contest. I don't know much about autism, only that vaccines DO NOT cause it.I decided to buy two blank puzzles, draw things Bryan liked on one and things I liked on the other - and those things would spell out "Will You Marry Me?" My plan was to then break the puzzle apart and then mix the pieces together and give it to him to solve.Well, he put it together, but apparently my 'objects-as-letters' part wasn't so clear so he thought it was just neat, making me indignant and so I told him it was a secret message.Later, after he probably sat staring at it for 3 hours, he finally made out two of the words. ('Will' and 'Me') Bryan is smart, so he knew how to fill in the blanks. He came upstairs and said "Yes?"I squealed.

Puzzle of Love

~By RachelI'm not going to lie, the moment I found out Bryan had a corgi, he gained a whole lot of points in my book. I'm not a 'dog' person, but also I am #notacatlady, but I do have a thing for corgis.One of the most puzzling aspects of moving in together was how were we going to make our animals get along? Nigel, my cat grew up in prison and was anti-social when it came other animals. Zoey, the corgi is really hyper and is a herding animal by nature and couldn't seem to get her nose out of his behind. I was always afraid she would get too close and get the stuffing scratched out of her which in turn would cause her to bite the stuffing out of Nigel.At first, I locked Nigel in a closet. In reflection, that's kind of mean but it was Bryan's apartment and I couldn't leave my cat alone at my apartment or else he would destroy all the toilet paper in protest.Eventually he took over the guest bedroom but that still was not ideal.Nigel became Genghis Khan eventually at took over the whole house by day while poor Zoey stayed in her Klennel and got more resentful.Zoey had always loved me despite biting me a few times. Nigel eventually warmed up to Bryan. As of late, Bryan thinks Nigel is his cat because apparently I made a 'bet' under the influence that if I lost a game of pool, he could have Nigel.Anyway, this animal freedom inequality was finally solved when we bought our home. Now the animals can be together, and be civil, though I don't expect to ever come home and find them bathing each other or snuggling.When they die, which will be a sad time - Bryan and I will start over with a kitten and a corgi puppy that will learn to be friends, then we will take pictures of it and reap tons of karma on Reddit.

This little troll is my baby sister and she's been bugging me for years to let her be the Maid of Honor so I owe her that, I guess. No really, she's way better at weddings than I am and she keeps me motivated.

Jon has been Bryan's BFF since the Iowa-times. He and Bryan share an aunt! I guess that happens in small towns in the midwest. Jon likes video games, cats, and to troll people hard. One time Jon left dynamite in my Minecraft house.

Sarah is also one of Bryan's BFFs from the Iowa-times. She currently has a cool apartment in Des Moines and knows all the places to hang. Luckily for me, I am the only girlfriend of Bryan's she ever approved of. I like it when Sarah is in town so we can shop and play Sims 2 together.

I keep telling strangers that Tom is my brother, and most of the time they believe it. We met in college when I volunteered to carry his stuff up to his dorm room. Tom had a cool Andy Warhol bag.  His dad tipped me for this service and I feasted on Taco Bell that night.

Emily is a Chic Goddess and has been my friend for many, many years - since middle school when we had sleep overs and told each other about the crushes we had. She also did my hair and make up. She's a low key pro at this. One time I wrote I got married on Xanga for play-play, and she was livid that she was denied some special time with a figurative groomsman and cake.

Grantikins is Bryan's little brother. He is also a trucker and had to grow a beard to join their respective ranks. Many times I don't know what Grant is saying because he mumbles but when I do hear it, I end up having a laugh-attack. Grant also has a corgi, but it's the best corgi.

Through the years, the house changed owners several times - one was David Holladay, who lived in the home until the late 1800's. It is believed that he lived at the house and ran the distillery that he and his brother founded, while his brother, Ben, ventured west and gained fame from the Overland Stagecoach Company.
