Rachel and Connor met in January 2022 in Houston, TX, shortly after the start of the new year. Rachel had moved back to Houston to start work in October 2021, and Connor had been living and working in Houston since September 2020.

Rachel had started attending church with Connor's roommate, Douglas Baker, who suggested Connor should meet Rachel. Connor joined Douglas, Rachel, and several other friends at lunch one day after church (much to Rachel's surprise!) and the two quickly hit it off.

Although Connor and Rachel met in January, they didn't make their relationship official until March 20, 2022 (thanks public accounting busy season!). They quickly learned they loved spending time together and had a lot in common. Their favorite things to do together include walking in Memorial Park, exploring the Heights, watching the Astros, and letting Connor cook for Rachel (this might be Rachel's favorite).

After a little over a year of dating, both Connor and Rachel knew they wanted to get married. (Connor really knew earlier on that Rachel was the one, but let Rachel set the pace.) On November 18 2023, Connor asked Rachel to marry him and without hesitation, she said yes!
