A little while after Rachel’s brother met the love of his life on CatholicMatch and got married, Rachel decided to give it a try herself. She purchased a one month subscription and gave it to God to lead her during this one month trial… and a few weeks into the trial, she met Devlin little knowing he would become the love of her life.

Devlin also decided to try CatholicMatch. Being still newer to the area and working for a smaller company, he thought maybe trying online dating was the way to go to find someone. He subscribed for a full 6 month membership thinking this may take him a while to find a good match. However, few weeks into his subscription too… he met Rachel and the rest was history! (But his 5 month “donation” to CatholicMatch I am sure was appreciated by the site ;) )

Devlin shortly after messaging with Rachel asked her to go on their first date to Black Dog Coffeehouse at the beginning of June 2022. It was a nice weekend afternoon so they decided to sit outside at a small table. The date went on for about an hour and both felt a connection, a small spark to see each other more. Devlin and Rachel continued to go on a few more dates and then on June 23, 2022, Devlin officially asked Rachel to be his girlfriend.

Days turned into months, months turned into a year and their relationship kept growing stronger each day that passed. They both loved living in the KC area where both of their parents and many extended family members lived. Spending time with each other’s families often strengthened the relationship further.

On December 29, 2024, Devlin proposed to Rachel at Sar-Ko-Par Trails Park in Lenexa in a gazebo covered with Christmas lights (with his twin sister, Rita hiding behind a tree taking pictures of the event to capture the moment). Before the proposal though, Devlin took Rachel to a nice restaurant called 801 Chophouse in Leawood where during a nice dinner, they had THE Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce walk right past their table on the way to a private room! Rachel in basically shell-shock said “Hi Kelce” and he said, “hello” back as the only exchange… (how much Rachel wishes she would have said hello to Taylor and at least asked for a picture of proof for the occasion). Devlin wished he had the ring in his pocket so he could have possibly proposed right there! Maybe Taylor and Travis would have paid for their dinner or better, the wedding.. we will never know. The important thing though was Devlin and Rachel both decided they would marry the love of their lives that night! After the proposal, they went to both parents’ houses to share in the joy with them on this special occasion!
