What is sleeping like at the lodge?
The Cascade Lodge can comfortably fit over 50 people but has the capacity to sleep 85! We will not be THAT full and there is plenty of space for everyone staying. There are 50 twin size beds 🛏️ split between 4 large lofts (12-14 beds per loft). The beds do NOT have sheets/bedding/pillows, so you will need to bring your own. You can push 2 twins together to make a king if you want to bring bedding for that size instead. It will be cold at night (low 30’s) ❄️ so I recommend a sleeping bag if you have one or a thick blanket to go over your sheets. There are some thick blankets in the closet that you can use… but I am not sure about the quality or quantity of them. There is no central heating or AC unit, but instead there are 2 wood/coal burning stoves 🔥 that heat the entire lodge. If you would like to bring an office safe portable heater you may. I will be bringing mine with me. *We really only need 1 per loft, so if you would like to bring one let me know.*
What are the bathrooms like?
There are 2 large communal bathrooms; one women’s and one men’s. Women’s bathroom has 2 showers, 2 toilets, and several sinks. Men’s bathroom has 3 showers, 1 bathtub, (*) toilets, and several sinks. I will have a shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and lotion to share in each bathroom, but you are more than welcome to bring your own. Just like the beds there are no towels, please bring your own.🧖♀️
What is the kitchen like?
KITCHEN/FOOD: The kitchen is large enough to feed the 80 something people that can fit at the lodge. Large flattop and 2 oven/stove combos. They have a regular coffee maker.. no k-cups. Coffee is usually started by whoever is up first! ☕️ Dinner will be provided for each night, and we will have basic breakfast stuff to make in the mornings. You are on your own for lunch. 🤪 We will probably have sandwich stuff, but usually we eat lunch while we are out and about! We will be doing a rehearsal dinner at the lodge on Thursday night around 6-7 pm depending on when everyone is arriving.
DIRECTIONS
You will be heading north ⬆️ on Hwy 550 coming from Durango/ your hotel. If you are not staying at Purgatory or Cascade Village you should pass them right before you need to make your turn. If you are staying at the resorts then as you exit them a few miles down there will be a sharp U-turn. ↩️ At the end of that U-turn is the exit for Lime Creek Rd… TAKE IT! There is not anywhere for A WHILE for you to turn around! The exit is a dirt road and you might see donkeys and horses. Take the dirt road until there is a left to take. The driveway for the lodge is the first left, but a sharp left! Be careful as you make that left… it is basically a U-turn going up hill. ↪️ There is plenty of parking at the top of the driveway. And you have arrived!!! 🙌
