Steven Diedrich - Best Man
Originally met because Steven made John venison in the dorm kitchen with a packet of apple cider for spice. The only man who can beat John in a heads-up game of Smash Bros. On the original N64, of course.
Amanda McLachlan - Maid of Honor
Rachel and Amanda met in a random courtyard in LA during lunch. Rachel was reading her bible and Amanda, eager to make a Christian friend in LA, approached Rachel and pointed out they were wearing the same necklace. Although they both met in LA, their relationship has always been long distance as Rachel shortly moved to China and Amanda to Dallas. Rachel is forever indebted to Amanda as Amanda was the one who invited Rachel on the Denver trip in Summer 2018, where Rachel and John met at a Leon Bridges concert at Red Rocks.
Joseph Mercer - Groomsman
Inseparable at Baylor, Joseph was John's Basketball partner, thesis co-author, driving partner, League teammate, ultimate frisbee colleague, chess whipping post, study partner (yea, right...), guitar teacher and taco bell running mate.
Mitzi Benavides - Bridesmaid
Mitzi and Rachel were roommates in LA for a year after college. They both attended UCLA but never connected until after graduation. The past few years they have been living the dream life next to the beach in Long Beach. They recently backpacked and hiked Machu Picchu and made rap videos at the top of the mountain. They will spare you of those videos.
Kaylee Gabel - Bridesmaid
Kaylee and Rachel grew up right next door to each other in Orange County. Kaylee is a grade older than Rachel, so of course Rachel copied literally everything Kaylee would wear and do. I am shocked that Kaylee still wanted to be friends. One summer, Kaylee and Rachel mastered Tony Hawk Pro Skater 3 video game and beat every guy at school.
Pat Delehanty - Groomsman
Pat is one of John's oldest friends. One time, John and Pat found some size 64 underwear at a discount store. What happened next is the stuff of legends. Pat is a real-life leprechaun. Member of Arby's Melt
Christina Branman - Bridesmaid
Christina and Rachel met at Pioneer Girls (Girl Scouts) at church and then soon there after played soccer and softball together. Rachel's dad was the softball coach and repeatedly said that Christina was the fastest runner he had ever seen. Rachel and Christina continually bond over their weird noises, random laughs, and quirky senses of humor.
Steven Conley - Groomsman
Playing in high school worship band together, Steven and John tried to break every rule possible. Steve would always come down to festival at FPSF in Houston, where John got his car towed twice. Member of Arby's Melt.
Delain Ritchey - Bridesmaid
Delain is Rachel's clumsiest friend. But it's okay, because Rachel is equally as clumsy. Delain has been a best friend since junior high. Which is saying a lot, since Rachel was awkward with weird braces then. Delain is now a momma to the sweetest girl Braylen!
Paul Departout - Groomsman
Met during their days in investment banking, John's only claim to fame is having beat Paul once at hockey. On a video game. Please do not review the win/loss record. Fell asleep watching John Wick approximately 1,600 times.
Ken Nguyen - Groomsman
Met during their days in investment banking, John and Ken became roommates in short order. TK (Tomato Ken) was always ready to rock. Unless John Wick was on... or there was a healthy debate about bitcoin.
Elysia Steigert - Bridesmaid
Elysia and Rachel were roommates while they lived in Beijing, China. Everyday Elysia and Rachel would laugh about all the insane things that would happen in China. On one particular day, the clothes washer flooded, the poorly made Ikea dresser collapsed in half, and the freezer froze shut so they decided to use a hair dryer to try to unfreeze it.
Kwan Przybyla - Bridesmaid
Kwan and Rachel met at UCLA when they were in the same sorority. Kwan, being a year older, started inviting Rachel to a Christian fellowship every week. Finally, Rachel obliged and started to attend with Kwan. Kwan is an integral part of Rachel's faith story. Kwan and Rachel both lived in China after college and would make frequent trips to see each other. Kwan still lives in Shanghai with her new husband!
Mark McCallum - Groomsman
John knew Mark's brother Matt from Baylor. When Mark moved to Denver, John tried his hardest to get Mark to be his tenant. Thankfully, he accepted, and they have become incredibly close. Just don't ask about Mark's N64 talents. He's too young.
Clark Poole - Groomsman
Initially a mentor/mentee relationship, John and Clark have become as close as brothers, with the two frequently spending time with each others' families. John still describes Clark to those he hasn't met as, "the little leprechaun kid." That will never change.
Alicia Aiken - Bridesmaid
Alicia and Rachel were blonde math twins at UCLA. There is no way they would have graduated without each other. Their days at UCLA consisted of - math classes, Crossfit workouts in between classes, lots of coffee and bagels with cream cheese from Kerckhoff, and rooftop spa study breaks.
Will Yan - Groomsman
Introduced through mutual friends (Kaitlin Kerr), Will and John had similar interests in careers, snowboarding, league, spicy Asian food and whisky. Unfortunately, John led Will through some trees where he broke his femur. Fortunately, after his recovery, Will continues to dominate Crossfit life.
Ilsa Levine - Bridesmaid
Ilsa and Rachel met at UCLA through mutual friends. Their love of long walks on the beach, yoga, deep convos, and ministry has kept their friendship forever strong. Ilsa and Rachel lived in Bejing, China together after college and were able to partner together to work with sex trafficking victims and lead a bible study for Chinese business women.
Alexandra Barrett - Bridesmaid
Alex and Rachel grew up together at the same church. However, their friendship really started after Rachel moved home from China back to Orange County. Rachel and Alex's favorite things to do are eat lots of froyo, cry laugh, and take long walks around the Parkhurst neighborhood.
Phil Spencer - Groomsman
Although Phil is younger than John, he was always a mentor - in faith, work and relationships. That didn't stop John from wanting to kill Philip when they lived together in Dallas for a summer. Mr. Saxobeat still haunts John's dreams at 5 AM every morning.
