If staying at the Yamagata Lodge, check in is at 3pm, and the Summit advises arriving at the South Gate to reach the lodge more directly. Locations and Getting Here Strategically located near numerous major highways, the Summit is within a 500-mile-radius of 63% of the U.S. population, providing convenient access from neighboring states. GETTING HERE The Summit is accessible by vehicle via I-77 and I-64 (via SR-19) just outside of Beckley, WV. The closest major airport is West Virginia International Yeager Airport in Charleston, West Virginia, located approximately 75 miles from the Summit. Alternatively, airports in Charlotte, NC, and Pittsburgh, PA (3.5-4 hours) may also be an option. Amtrak also offers rail service to Prince, WV (about 15 minutes from the Summit) via the Cardinal Line.
