Our StoryOur story began in the midst of an uncertain world, but we found each other when it felt like everything had slowed down. It all started on our first date at Stoney River Steakhouse. We talked for hours, so much so that we closed the restaurant down. It felt like time stood still, and we were the only two people in the room, laughing and sharing stories, learning about each other with every passing minute. As we got to know one another, we realized just how much we had in common. We shared a love for adventure and the outdoors. I cheered Kevin on as he took on a Spartan race, proud to support him as he pushed himself beyond his limits. And we supported each other through the challenges life threw our way, always growing stronger and more connected, no matter the distance between us. Kevin was in Virginia, and I was in North Carolina, but that didn’t stop us from making the most of every moment, from weekend trips to long talks into the night. One of the first conversations I’ll always remember was when I asked Kevin what his “deep dark secret” was. Without missing a beat, he said, “I love avocados.” That simple answer sparked something special. It wasn’t just about the love for avocados—it was about finding joy in the small, silly things. We began sending each other photos of avocados, sharing avocado-themed gifts, and even making jokes about it. It became a little tradition between us, a reminder that love is found in the most unexpected places.

Family has always been a big part of our lives. I’m from a huge, lively family, and Kevin’s is smaller, but both have embraced our relationship wholeheartedly. The “Bro Squad” (my sons and bonus sons) have been such an important part of our journey together, and I’ll never forget the memories we made camping with them—laughter around the campfire and bonding over shared experiences. Through every hurdle and every milestone, we’ve grown closer, discovering new ways to love and appreciate each other. When Kevin proposed to me at Colonel Francis Beatty Park, it felt like everything had come full circle. We’d been on so many adventures together, faced challenges side by side, and built a life full of love and laughter. That moment at the park was just the beginning of a new chapter, one that we’re so excited to begin, surrounded by our family and friends. Our love is a story of resilience, adventure, and a whole lot of laughter. We’ve supported each other through the hard times, cheered each other on in the good times, and always found our way back to each other. We can't wait to spend the rest of our lives together, creating more memories, laughing over our favorite avocados, and living life to the fullest. The best is yet to come.

Our Story

Q: What's the dress code? A: Dressy casual with a bohemian flair! Think garden party meets adventure-chic — flowy dresses, slacks, button-downs, blazers, vests and earthy touches. The ceremony is outdoors, so plan for comfortable shoes. A shawl or wrap is a good idea for November 1st temperatures in Charlotte. Q: Is the wedding outdoors? A: Yes! The ceremony will take place under the pergola by the lake at Colonel Francis Beatty Park — it’s a stunning natural setting. The reception will follow indoors at the Lake Pointe Hall. We recommend comfortable shoes and a light jacket for the November weather. At the end of the ceremony, our ushers and wedding coordinators will guide guests to form a line along the path, each holding a stem of pampas grass. Kevin and I will walk back through the arch you create — a symbolic and heartfelt close to the ceremony before we head into the celebration. Q: What time should we arrive? A: The ceremony begins at 3:00 PM sharp. Please arrive between 2:30 and 2:55 PM to allow time for parking, mingling, and finding your seat. Q: Will there be food and drinks? A: Absolutely! Cocktail hour runs from 3:30–4:30 PM, featuring beer, wine, water, tea, lemonade, and hors d'oeuvres. A buffet dinner will be served from 5:00–6:00 PM, with delicious food, dessert, and both alcoholic and non-alcoholic options. Q: Is there assigned seating? A: Yes, we’ve created a thoughtful table plan for the reception. Look for your name at the welcome table when you arrive. If you need help, just ask — we’ve got you! Q: What should we know about the park venue? A: There’s plenty of parking at Colonel Francis Beatty Park. Follow the signage to the event space — The Lake Pointe Hall building is deep in the park. It’s a gorgeous tree-lined drive that should be especially beautiful this time of year. Come a little early and take it all in! Q: Can we take photos? A: We’ll have a photographer capturing all the moments! During the ceremony, we kindly ask for an unplugged experience so everyone can be present with us.
