Alex’s POV: Let me set the scene; it was a Saturday where the boys and I were doing an all-day brunch and drinking sesh. I was about to call it a night when I got tempted into just one more drink at a bar called Downtime. One more drink turned into the boys getting table service and turning it into a pretty boozy night.

My friend started talking to this girl and me being the greatest wingman in New York I decided to go for the fitter of the two; Revian Chang. She wasn’t paying me much attention or giving any chat, so the old “wanna get a drink at the bar” line came out. Obviously her eyes glimmered with joy at that line. The chat finally got going and she was lapping up the jokes left, right and Chelsea.

I thought to myself, this girl is actually pretty funny. So, I decided to ask for her number. She refused and gave me her instagram. I saw she had circa 120k followers and a blue tick (before you could buy them) and thought I’m going to pursue this to get her number. After more top quality banter, and Revian half pushing me away, I succeeded in getting the phone number! I did think she gave me a fake one so decided to drop call her right there and then. The night then ended and we went our separate ways.

After a few texts here or there; we decided to go on our first date. However, a day or so before, Revian decided to cancel on me and used a terrible excuse of someone’s wedding (heard all the excuses before in Recruitment). I didn’t text back.

About 3-months later I decided to message her out the blue “So how about that date then?” Instant response and we arranged to meet for brunch at Citizen’s of Soho on Sunday 13th November (I took my mum there when she visited so knew it was good). We then met there; I considered cancelling because I’d just come off a double header weekend of going out so was slightly hungover, but soldiered on regardless. We had a lovely brunch, learning that Revian wanted to be an international DJ (lol that went well) and how she likes to go to raves and stay in hostels when she travels…both of which I hate.

Somehow it worked out and here we are. No raves/hostels or international DJ dreams anymore.

Revians POV: What started off as a random night I got dragged out to when trying to conjoin two friend groups (a failed attempt) led to meeting Alex. I remember noticing Alex when I walked into the club/bar in his bright white T-shirt that he was quite cute. I, however, at the time swore myself to stay single for another year or two.

Which leads us back to my failed attempt of joining two friend groups. One of the girls did not enjoy hanging out with the other crew which brought her to join a table of English men. I got looped in for a free drink and hence Alex starts chatting me up. I passed him off as being flirtatious with everyone and paid him no mind. He noticed and got in my ear to ask why arent you paying attention to me and I said because I don’t want to and waved him off. Somehow still gave me a good enough impression I gave him my number and left the night early.

A few asks here and there from him and a cancellation on my end turned into 3 months until we finally went on our first date. We went to get brunch where I was incredibly late and hungover to. I was charmed by the end of our first date and very glad I didn’t cancel again.

Funny enough I was due for a first dinner date with someone else 5 hours later and got hit by a car walking there. Maybe it was a sign from the universe that I shouldn’t go out with anyone else.

And that was the beginning of everything!
