It all started when one man new to Hawai'i from Washington State and one woman living in Hawai'i for 12 years from Philadelphia both tried their luck on a dating app called bumble.
They had both been searching for a partner, someone they could adventure with, share some laughs and just keep things fun and simple with. So they quickly matched. As is customary on bumble the woman reached out and made it clear that she was only looking for something serious but the man honestly replied saying he wasn't sure that was what he was looking for. So, they wished each other luck and parted ways.
Two weeks later, to the woman's surprise she had a message in bumble from the man inquiring if she would be interested in making a new friend and showing him around the island. She loved making new friends and thought it might be fun to get out so they made a plan to meet.
Cancelled. Due to COVID their plans were thwarted but don't fret the couple availed and she invited him to her quaint studio for dinner and a movie. At first it seemed like they would be fast friends but when their hands touched a bolt of electricity surged through them both. That's when they knew there was no chance at just being friends.
That was August 20 and they couldn't be separated much after that. On August 26th, 2020 they became an official couple. For their first date they snorkeled at Shark's Cove, where she had to save him followed by an onolicious lunch at Farm to Barn with their signature taro bun burgers.
From there he moved in with her and their life as a couple began. Hanging out with friends, going on adventures and living the everyday life. Their relationship wasn't without bumps but they worked through them always supporting each other. The biggest surprise came one day when the woman came out of the bathroom crying to the man's confusion and informed him that they were going to become parents.
The couple decided to go on a babymoon during the 7th month of the pregnancy to Kaua'i. She wanted him to see her favorite place, so they hiked down to Queen's Bath. Little did she know he had been planning a surprise all along. He made sure to utilize her interest in marine biology and distracted her by asking what the name of a random sea creature in a tiny hole was. As she was leaning down to look, he was getting down on one knee. When she turned around to tell him she saw nothing she got a huge surprise. It was the perfect moment!
