Are kids welcome?
As much as we love your little ones, we would love for you to enjoy a kids-free evening on us for the Wedding Day itself! However, we recognize that many of you will be traveling with your kids, so please reach out to one of us if you need some direction looking for a babysitter.
The whole family is invited to all other events, including the Recovery Brunch on Saturday!
What will the weather be like?
February in Sydney and Shoal Bay is the end of summer. That means expect it to be hot, humid and with a chance of rain. Unfortunately, the weather has been very unpredictable lately so come prepared for rain and heat.
What is Coastal Cocktail?
For the men, suits or blazers and tie optional. Since we're by the beach, fun colors and linens encouraged.
For the women, cocktail dresses, maxi dresses or two pieces with a coastal flair, not just a casual sundress. The ceremony is outdoors on grass, so choose your heels carefully.
Do I need a Visa?
- Yes, but it is super easy and done via the Australian ETA app, it only takes a couple of days to process but I would recommend doing it early
Bars and Restaurants
- Tipping is not part of AUS culture
- Drinking age is 18, but you may still get ID'd well into your 30s, so be prepared
Driving:
- Australians drive on the wrong (left) side of the road
- Drive the speed limit, there are cameras that will give you tickets
- Not allowed to take unprotected turns at red lights unless stated otherwise
Australia is Large:
- It is nearly the same size as the lower 48 states
- Great Barrier Reef is beautiful but is a 4.5hr flight from Sydney. Uluru, our indigenous centre, is a 3hr flight from Sydney.
Where else to look into visiting if all the way out in AUS?
- Tasmania - beautiful island with a small population and lots of Kangaroos
- Northern Territory is where Crocodiles are. It also has the centre of Australia, Uluru, an indigenous cultural hub absolutely worth visiting.
- Whitsundays and Hamilton island have the most beautiful beaches
- But honestly all of Australia has some hidden gems. You can spend years travelling around it, so definitely add some extra time to the trip if you can!
What about my electrical items?
- Electronics with a heating element will not work and will break if you try and use them. This means no hair dryers, hair straighteners, and the vacuum you want to bring.
- Be sure to get an Australian adapter for non heating element electronics.
There is no ozone.
- Wear sunscreen. 50+. Reapply multiple times. Don't get burned!
