Journey to Each Other

Six years ago, in the bustling heart of a professional kitchen, a different kind of magic was simmering. Melwin, a dedicated Sous Chef, first spotted Rosalynn, the brilliant Pastry Chef. While whisks spun and ovens hummed, he was instantly captivated, not just by her culinary talent, but by the quiet kindness that radiated from her, touching everyone she met. For years, they worked side-by-side, colleagues and friends, but in Melwin's heart, a deeper desire was beginning to brew. Three years ago, that subtle simmer finally turned into a beautiful flame. Melwin, ever the planner, suggested a "casual friendship date" — dinner and a movie. His pick? Avatar, a cinematic classic Rosalynn somehow hadn't seen, a fact Melwin was eager to remedy. Rosalynn, though, was playing it cool, convinced this was strictly platonic, but Melwin had a secret ingredient: persistence. He embarked on a daily mission to win her over, a delicious campaign of homemade lunches delivered right to her workstation, always with a special portion saved just for her. For her birthday, he pulled off a surprise party, complete with a show-stopping cake crafted to look exactly like Petey, her beloved cherry-headed conure. These weren't grand gestures, but thoughtful, consistent acts of kindness that, little by little, chipped away at Rosalynn's reservations, revealing the dependable and loving man beneath the chef's whites. Then came the moment that would seal their fate. Knowing Rosalynn's discerning taste, Melwin spent weeks on a covert mission to find the perfect ring. After what felt like an eternity of hiding it in their shared apartment, he whisked her away on a surprise trip to Niagara Falls. In a picturesque park nearby, with a secret photographer poised to capture the moment, Melwin's nerves took over. "Are you ready? Are you ready?!" he blurted out repeatedly, barely containing his excitement. A few flustered seconds later, on a beautiful August 8, 2024, Rosalynn's heartfelt "Yes!" echoed through the park. Today, their journey continues, spiced with shared adventures like their ongoing quest for the city's best almond croissants and discovering charming new cafes. From a hesitant "friendship date" to a joyous, slightly uncoordinated proposal, Melwin and Rosalynn's story is a delicious reminder that true love often finds you in the most unexpected places. We can't wait to celebrate their happy ever after with all of you!

Flying from the US to Vancouver (YVR) A valid US passport or passport card is required for travel to Canada. Plan to arrive 3-4 hours before your scheduled departure time for international travel. From San JoseThere are no direct flights from San Jose Mineta Int'l Airport (SJC) to YVR. Air Canada, Alaska Airlines, American Airlines, and United Airlines all offer flights with at least one connection. From San FranciscoDirect, non-stop flights from San Francisco Int'l Airport (SFO) to YVR are serviced by United Airlines, Air Canada, Flair Airlines, and WestJet.&nbsp;Flight time is approximately 2 hours and 20 minutes. From SeattleAir Canada, Alaska Airlines, and Delta Air Lines offer frequent direct flights from Seattle-Tacoma Int'l Airport (SEA) to YVR. From Los AngelesAmerican Airlines, Air Canada, United, Flair Airlines and WestJet all offer direct flights from Los Angeles Int'l Airport (LAX) to YVR. Alternative Transportation: Driving from Seattle You can fly into Seattle, rent a car from the SEA airport, and drive across the border. Allow at least 2.5 hours drive time for this option. A passport is required for the border crossing at the Blaine-Peace Arch border station. To check current border wait times: https://bwt.cbp.gov/ Ground Transportation Uber offers good transport services in and around Vancouver. However, a car rental is recommended for the drive between wedding venues. A rental from the airport will provide the best flexible times for pickup and drop off, although the rental fee may be higher.

Vancouver International Airport

The staff at this hotel are friendly and professional. The hotel is in a good area within walking distance to the waterfront. The neighborhood sees mostly foot traffic from local office workers or travelers. There is an underground parking available. If staying in Vancouver, it will be safest to stay within the Downtown Vancouver, Westend, or Yaletown areas. Avoid the area east of Gastown.

AirBnB offers rentals in B.C. There are rentals outside of Vancouver in Burnaby and Surrey, which are good locations in between the two wedding venues. We suggest booking through their app.

Many cities in B.C. use parking apps for city-owned parking spaces. The City of Vancouver uses the PayByPhone app. We suggest setting up the app before arriving.

If you are planning to stay a little longer and want to check out the steakhouse where Rosalynn and Melwin work, feel free to book reservations in advance.
