Rose and Shelby went to rival high schools on the Flathead Indian Reservation in Montana where they grew up. Shelby was a Ronan Chief and Rose was a Mission Bulldog. Back then they didn't really know each other, maybe in passing. At one point they were on the same track team together as their schools joined forces (see below)! Rose was a long distance runner and Shelby was a pole vaulter, so they seldom crossed paths.

It wasn't until after they both went their separate ways to college, Rose to Yale and Shelby to West Point that they connected. They became social media friends and one day Shelby slid into the DM's and the rest is history!

Rose and Shelby spent the first two years of their relationship long distance as he was stationed in El Paso and she was finishing her Master's in Montana. They adopted a dog named Samantha who completed the pair. They all lived together in a small apartment in El Paso until Shelby got new orders and they made the leap to move to North Carolina.

They bought a house and started a new journey soon after adopting their second dog, a goofy boy named Theo.

On July 28th of 2023, after four years of love and friendship they decided to get court-married because well... military life (and of course love)!

In their time together Rose and Shelby have experienced two houses, one apartment, a deployment cut short by Covid, two moves and one international vacation. They are the best of friends and love to watch movies and shows together, try new foods, work on their house, and play with their dogs.
